does anyone else repeat themselves in a conversation?
My oncol says not to worry, I am fine. But, I don't want to sound like a babbling idiot.

chemo brain
Chemo brain is REAL! Although I am 7 months out of chemo and still blaming chemo brain for repeating myself and forgetting stuff. Before I had chemo and I was just starting to do things like that, I asked my Dr. about Alzheimer's, and she said that everyone forgets things and loses keys, etc., especially as they get older. But if you ever end up somewhere and have no idea how to get back home, then you should talk to your Dr. about the possibility of Alzheimers. I just read a book called "Still Alice" which I highly recommend to anyone, and is about a 40-year-old Harvard professor who develops early-onset Alzheimers. It really gives a great insight into how it develops and what the signs are. Although it is a fictional book, it is based on facts. Hugs, Linda0 -
I do repeat myself, I do
I do repeat myself, I do repeat myself.........
LOL Not too funny sometimes, but yes just one more side effect from chemo.
Worst part is when you don't remember that you already said it!
We're fine though just a little different now. Just a little different now.......0 -
YES! I have not hit the mid forties, and I feel like I havedbhadra said:all the time!
I repeat myself all the time! My son asked me just the other day, "mama, do you realize this is the THIRD TIME you told me this story?"
Chemo brain for sure!
Laura
lost my mind ... Chemo has sucked out all my brain cells ...!!! No joke - it is frustrating!
Getting a little better, and better ... with time.
LOL ...

I do repeat myself and more frequently, totally forget what I wanted to say. I will literally forget what I am talking about...mid-sentence.
This started at the time I was doing chemo, at age 54, so I am blaming "chemo brain". I just turned 57.

I'll ask my husband, "Honey, did I tell you about..." "Yes, he says about at least two times." My kids say the same thing. I feel like that character in the movie 52 first dates with Drew Barrymore, you know "ten second Ted" or something like that. I have wicked short-term memory loss. I hear it comes back, so I'm not too worried. But still...

Sometimes I wonder if i actually said it or just "thought" to say it. I dont repeat myself except in those instances. this is all better, but I dont wonder if I have alzheimers as much as I have finally gone over the edge LOL!!!0 -

I do it sometimes even though I didn't have chemo. I think it is just Cancer Brain! We go thru so much that it is bound to have an effect on our brain somehow.

It makes me better that I am not alone, and maybe a new normal!! But, I sure wish it would go away with time.0 -
What was I going to say...
Not only to I repeat, I repeat and can't remember. I'm 50. I had a cucussion around 10 yrs ago and chemo has made it worse. I had an excellent memory. I read somewhere, sighhh that er,pr and her2 postive people have a kind of permanment chemo brain. Dont know if this is true. Think it was Cure magazine. Have to relearn things. New ways to remember. I write things down alot and if I start a little story, I'll ask if I already told it. It's very flustering, but Im just living with it. What else can one do? Good luck, or did I already say that katz0 -

was from a survivor attempting to tell me about a wig salon. We were on the phone and she kept saying the wrong name. After a couple of frustrating minutes for her, chemo brain she could describe with detail to me, but the name of the store was lost. I later found it via Google.
My daughter's first encounter with my chemo brain was shortly after I began chemo and kept interchanging the words 'ladder' and 'umbrella'. The best I can figure is they share the same neuron file drawer in my then bald little head.0 -
I use to do it all the time.

Lizzie another sister here
Lizzie another sister here who repeats. I also ask, "have I told you this before?". Did it yesterday, and yes I had already told that person what I wanted to tell them. I was always quick with words and thoughts but the stall is here now. I'm 68 and I guess age coupled with chemo are the culprits. I guess the more active we keep our minds the better. You are not alone.0 -

When I begin to tell someone something I always ask if I have already told them. well with my friends and family anyway. I have noticed its effects when I am teaching, I will lose my train of thought, so now I write more in my notes when I teach. I have also noticed that I can not be in a crowded room and have a conversation with someone, find it really difficult to concentrate on the conversation I get distracted. I feel like I am ADHD0 -
