I have been positive for the most part and blessed by my support here and my family and my sis and my few close friends. I mean real blessed, I have had a long rough year but…

OT: Got a few of my co-workers up off their lazy behinds!
You’ve all supported me in my commitment to exercise and healthy eating since completing treatment, and have listened to me whine about my co-workers, whose only forms of exercise are driving through the McDonald’s drive-thru and lifting froufy coffee drinks the size of their heads up to their mouths. I finally decided to…

Black line under fingernail
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of 2011. I had TCH until June followed by a double mastectomy later that month. In July I started my herceptin treatments which I will have until February 2012. I just finished my radiation treatments 7 days ago. As a result from my chemo I lost all of my fingernails. They are…

Gabrielle's Angel Ball raised 3.3 millions last night for the cure!
Hi sisters -- Last night I volunteered to be part of the Angel Ball event where many rich people attend and donate money for a cure. My job was to help identify tables that were bidding. There were a few celebrities, like Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campball, among others. It was a gala event so it was fancy! I had fun. They…

did your doctors check other areas of your body for cancer with scan etc. mine has not..
I go to kaiser and they have not run any test to see if there is cancer anywhere else is this typical. I would think they would run a scan to check for cancer elsewhere and when i ask they blow me off.

Sobbing - Emotionally Confused - New Meds
I'm still feeling physically run down and trying to stay healthy while trying to get ready to move. I've been having nightmares again. Scenarios of recurrence. I wake up feeling deeply disturbed and scared. I explained this to my psychiatrist this past week. She's hoping that once we move into our new home I will be able…

Negative thoughts are creeping in...
Well, my mom had her first round of whole brain radiation today to treat her brain mets, and honestly it sucked the life right out of her. I prepared myself for the side effects, so I knew she was going to be fatigued and lethargic, but not this quickly. I tried browsing the internet to see if any good comes from a brain…

I saw the best card today,

And the card reads "Tina was so tough, her poodle skirt had a bulldog on it (open card) Just remember, you're tougher!" Well, if that doesn't sound like all my pink sisters..... Have a…

Didn't embarrass myself, whew!
Today I was a "model" in a breast cancer survivors style show. I was both the youngest (48) and newest (11 months) survivor involved. There were about 20 of us including 1 physician and several staff members from the local cancer center(not survivors). I am happy to report that I did not fall, trip, or do any other…

Advocate for Yourself!
I learned the hard way to advocate for myself during my chemo treatments (Taxotere and Cytoxin.) I suffered a broken back after my second chemo caused my blood pressure to drop, resulting in a black out. I fell in my kitchen which left me with a L1 compression fracture. I learned that my doctor limited the steroids to 2.5…

I have completed 3 of 6 treatments of Taxotere/Cytoxan/Herceptin. I was dx 6/11 with Stage 3 invasive lobular breast cancer. Had bilateral mastectomy (positive nodes) with reconstruction end of July. I see that many of you had only 4 cycles of chemo and I am SO ready to be done. I am 66 and am questioning the value of 2…

My new photo
Several of you have complimented me on my new photo. Thank you. Yep, this is my wig and permanent make-up (brows and liner). It's been 13 months since chemo and my head hair is still extremely sparse and not fit for public viewing. My eyelashes are still rather puny but with a lot of mascara, they're ok. Haven't worn my…

Surgery on Friday.
My final reconstruction, that is the nip and tuck, port removal and a recent addition of hernia surgery. Actually, it turns out not to be a tear in the stomach muscle but a seperation of the stomach muscles in the middle that they are going to sew back together. It is supposed to be a 6 hr surgery, significanly less than…

More fun with cancer....NOT!!
As many of you know I had the re-excision surgery last month. Two weeks ago, the surgeon removed every other stitch. Two days ago, I finally had the last of the stitches removed. As the nurse was cleaning the area, the skin 'plopped' open and a bunch of icky fluid ran out. Yep, kinda gross. Because it was draining, the…

Is it useful to measure hormones even though my period came back?
Hi everyone, I just got my second period post chemo. Of course I'm most happy about that! I'm only 29 and the idea of already being permanently menopausal did not thrill me. What I wonder is this: is there a way to measure my hormone levels so that I can learn "how close to menopause I am"? How may years forward I was…

Gyn redux
Here I go again. So as you may remember, my "baseline" pelvic ultrasound in August showed endometrial thickening, an ovarian cyst and a fibroid... triggering an endometrial biopsy and the recommendation of either a hyst or every 3 month ultrasounds. The 1st guy I saw regarding the hyst said he would only do an abdominal…

this is odd, but people are saying I am starting to walk funny....????
For a couple of months people are telling me that my gait is now side to side---sea legs, waddling...OMG. My weight is the same, nothing much has changed. My feet don't hurt, sometimes groin pain. Any ideas....?? I started to worry of a new cancer popping up. :(

Forks down
Ct results are in and were fine. Showed some irritation in my lungs from radiation. As my mo said my lungs are "pissed off" about the rads. That explains the shortness of breath. Anyway stress eating can cease, put the forks down for another 6 months. Thanks for all of the care and concern Jennifer
