My new photo
Several of you have complimented me on my new photo. Thank you. Yep, this is my wig and permanent make-up (brows and liner). It's been 13 months since chemo and my head hair is still extremely sparse and not fit for public viewing. My eyelashes are still rather puny but with a lot of mascara, they're ok. Haven't worn my…

Surgery on Friday.
My final reconstruction, that is the nip and tuck, port removal and a recent addition of hernia surgery. Actually, it turns out not to be a tear in the stomach muscle but a seperation of the stomach muscles in the middle that they are going to sew back together. It is supposed to be a 6 hr surgery, significanly less than…

More fun with cancer....NOT!!
As many of you know I had the re-excision surgery last month. Two weeks ago, the surgeon removed every other stitch. Two days ago, I finally had the last of the stitches removed. As the nurse was cleaning the area, the skin 'plopped' open and a bunch of icky fluid ran out. Yep, kinda gross. Because it was draining, the…

Is it useful to measure hormones even though my period came back?
Hi everyone, I just got my second period post chemo. Of course I'm most happy about that! I'm only 29 and the idea of already being permanently menopausal did not thrill me. What I wonder is this: is there a way to measure my hormone levels so that I can learn "how close to menopause I am"? How may years forward I was…

Gyn redux
Here I go again. So as you may remember, my "baseline" pelvic ultrasound in August showed endometrial thickening, an ovarian cyst and a fibroid... triggering an endometrial biopsy and the recommendation of either a hyst or every 3 month ultrasounds. The 1st guy I saw regarding the hyst said he would only do an abdominal…

The article is definitely an OMG eye-opener. Thank you so much for the link!! I had tried to find info, but was not successful. Calling doctor tomorrow for sure!! Oh, and I am a diabetic, never connected that possibility with the many others. Thank you.

this is odd, but people are saying I am starting to walk funny....????
For a couple of months people are telling me that my gait is now side to side---sea legs, waddling...OMG. My weight is the same, nothing much has changed. My feet don't hurt, sometimes groin pain. Any ideas....?? I started to worry of a new cancer popping up. :(

Forks down
Ct results are in and were fine. Showed some irritation in my lungs from radiation. As my mo said my lungs are "pissed off" about the rads. That explains the shortness of breath. Anyway stress eating can cease, put the forks down for another 6 months. Thanks for all of the care and concern Jennifer

Femara and depression
I haven't been on this board for years. Been busy getting on with my life! I have been on Femara for a little over 3 years now. For around 3 years I have suffered from depression that resists all treatment. I have suffered from depression since the birth of my first child but was always able to keep it under control with…

Is it even possible to lose weight now?
I am doing Taxol weekly, I have bone mets and my leg/knee hurts a lot. I did take a lot of steriods over the summer and I just ballooned up, literally. I look like if you stuck a pin in me I would pop and fly around the room. To look at a picture of myself a year ago is shocking and I weighed the same. Not trying to be…

Last Week & This Week & Next Week
Last Week: Monday - Initial consultation appointment with radiation therapy oncologist (same as first time, love her!). Plan: 28 treatments, w/5 "boosters" at end = 33 total. Our discussion minimized - though didn't completely eliminate - my concerns & apprehension. It was the best she could do. Friday - Measurements,…

Finally a decent CT
I had a CT last Friday, I have bone mets, lungs, liver mets too. My last CT was in July and I remember the tech being really weird. Same girl did it this time and she was bubbly and asked what I had been doing. I told her chemo and a little rads. ANYWAY....results in....my cancer is either gone or drastically improved.…

I am on tamoxifen.I have severe side effect from femara & tamoxifen. I work in an elementary school full time. After 2 years,…

quick update
Thanks again to everyone who has asked how I'm doing. Sometimes I get a little "wordy" when I write but this time it will be short. Saw my onc this morning and had my 77th week of chemo. Currently this is Abraxane and Herceptin (week 7 of this combo). I'm feeling OK, working and doing a few other activities, not to mention…

This weekend I'll be doing an Inipi (Sweat Lodge) and then the Retreat and I want to be sure I have everyone by 'name' with me during this time though I know all will be there - it's for me that I want to remember each 'name'. Arimidex, Herceptin & Radiation ALL AT ONCE !!!
My oncologist wants me to take Arimidex, Herceptin and radiation all at once. Here's my history. 1st operation in January to take my cancer out. 2nd operation to put port in, 3rd operation to clear my margins and just had a 4th operation two weeks ago to take out microcalifications (which were benign). Had eight rounds of…

I am a 'suitcase'... (aka Tamoxifen and nuttiness...)
I am really a 'nutcase', but thanks to autocorrect on my phone, I am now a 'suitcase'. I just wanted to vent about all the stinkin' time I waste looking for stuff that isn't really lost. I just forget where I put it or saw it five minutes earlier. I can look at the shoe rack, not see the shoes I want,(which are right in…
