What hair loss related products did you find most useful? Upcoming 1st chemo.....
Hi everyone. I am starting 5 - 6 months of chemo in 2 weeks and it is the type that makes your hair fall out. In preparation, I have already had my hair cut from shoulder length to smile length, just to get used to short hair. I am thinking I may go to a pixie cut before I do the big shave. I want to go online and order a…

One Year Ago
Today marks one year since my cancer diagnosis. Hard to believe that surgery and radiation, and 5 months of tamoxifen took up the majority of my time and focus. Currently, I am doing well with the aftermath of the cancer. Energy level is almost back to normal. I am still not back on my tamoxifen as my onc wants to wait…

Darn! I just knew I would have a full head of hair before the wedding....
Whine, whine, whine...I know. What is it about me and hair? Anyway, I have been off taxotere for months now (last dose August) and my hair is just not coming back like I remembered from chemo before. Beginning to suspect I may not get all of my hair back-or it will be a full year. I remain on herceptin/perjeta forever (or…

Painful lump under sentinel node incision scar
Hi Everyone, I had a lumpectomy and one lymph node removed on 5/10. A few days after surgery, a painful lump began to form under the sentinel lymph node incision under my arm. When I raise my arm up, you can see the lump. It hurts when I do yoga. I think my surgeon didn't notice it when she examined me on follow-up. I…

Shaving advice, anyone?
I am new to the board and 4 weeks post surgical for bilateral mastectomy. In the last 4 weeks I have not shaved the arm pit on the side they did the lymph node biopsy as I was advised not to use a razor. In a fit of desperation tonight I drug the horse clippers into the house and popped on the surgical blades. My husband…

Drove 4 hours to Mayo Clinic today
My son and I drove to Rochester, MN today for my Mayo Clinic Pulmonology appointment to see if there is anything else to do to save my lungs from that agressive form of hypersensitivity pnuemonitis that I have been battling for over a year now. So far we can only slow the progression. My CT scan last month showed more…

thyroid nodules.
We're all watched more carefully since we've had the big C. A cold led to a lung xray which led to more test eventually leading to a lung biopsy. Got through that ok. They also found thyroid nodules that they are watching every 6 months. The last ultrasound showed the nodule was larger and there was another one on the…

prosthesis versus implants
As newly diagnosed and needing a mastectomy, I want to hear from survivors who have prosthesis or implants on the good and bad of each. I don't know which way I want to go, but want to decide before my first surgery so I don't have extra surgeries later on. Thanks in advance for sharing!

Spot on my nipple
I just got out of the tub and was drying off when I noticed a spot on my nipple. It looks like a small pimple. I tried to pop it but it wouldn't pop. It is a little redder than the rest of my nipple but doesn't bother me or anything. No oozing and I am not breast feeding (I'm 48). It is on the good breast. They took my…
