UPSC question...........risk factors?
I'm still trying to come to grips with my diagnosis of UPSC. Does anyone know if there is a genetic predisposition to this type of cancer? I can find very little information online. It also looks as if there may be a tendency for women with UPSC to develop breast cancer. I'm having a hard time figuring out how I developed…

what my doctor said re: having one less chemo than recommended protocal
sisters: saw my doctor this morning and asked if my ca 125 were sufficiently low, say below 35, could i, if i wanted, stop at 5 chemos rather than have the entire 6. if it were she, she said she'd have the 6, but she didn't think it was absolutely necessary. she agreed that if there were some migrant cells, or as she said,…

1st chemo ended up in hospital
Is there anyone out there who also has heart problems? On 7/28 went for my 1st (of 6 every 3weeks carbo/taxol) treatment. That was on a Fhursday and it went great. I felt ok and ok Friday until Saturday afternoon then...I know that the worst if side effects comes between 24-72 hrs after chemo day. I takes meds for control…

Expiration Date
On Tuesday my oncologist told me I will die from my endometrial cancer and it won't be years but months. I'm still trying to process this. I was doing fairly well in February with one slow growing tumor and told I could live with this cancer as a chronic disease for some time. Now my status has changed so dramatically and…

Dairy products or calcium supplements?
I've spent days researching the pros and cons of calcium supplements (specifically, Solgar's calcium citrate with added D3) and calcium from dairy. Neither source seems appealing, particularly to cancer patients; but I nevertheless need to get close to 1500 mg. in my diet. My doctor does not want me to take supplements,…

For Upsofloating from Songflower Regarding Gemzar
am taking Gemzar and doing very well on it. I don't know if it's working yet. I read you didn't have premeds. Does that mean you didn't have steroids? What drives me crazy is the steroids and hamster nights and then the crash down. It's hard to do weekly. I'd love to try it without the dexamethasone. Diane

Endometrial Carcinoma Vs Endometrial Adenocarcinoma
Hello Ladies, What is the difference between these two cancers? Also, I have Endometrial Cancer and if anybody could suggest a few books on Endometrial cancer and also a few books on nutrition that you would highly recommend. I have been checking books on line and there is quite a price range on books both dealing with…

When do I say something? Any advise?
On Monday I am having a biopsy. It will take 7/10 days for results. Have enlarged uterus, a thick lining, spotting after menopause. Don't know if he thinks I have cancer or just wants to rule it out. My sister died from uterine cancer. My son and husband are cancer survivors. Last year we had to tell him that his dad had…

Drinking Red Wine
I just finished chemo and I was wondering about how long I should wait to drink some red wine. I forgot to ask my doctor. I know the liver is overworked during chemo because f the chemicals, so I am concerned about my liver still being pushed by alcohol. Any thoughts?

Endometrial Cancer Research
I won't pretend to completely understand this, but I came across this new research on UPSC on the Cancer Society Institute and wanted to share it, especially the hormone therapy for California_Artist: Tumor Suppressor Genes. National cancer Institute is also supporting efforts to isolate a novel tumor suppressor gene that…

CT Scans
USPC-hysterectomy next week. My mom had a CT scan which showed no apparent masses outside of the uterus, which was music to my ears. Her chest x=ray showed a shadow that her doctor thinks may be pneumonia. She had a cough and sore throat a week ago. They are now ordering a CT Scan of her chest to rule this out prior to…

Biopsy
I've read that when you have a uterine biopsy you will bleed some afterwards and you need a pad. Is this true if you have gone through menopause? Thanks for the help.

new here UPSC stage 1 or 2 (no lymph node testing)
Hi ladies, I'm new here and been reading about this very scary diagnosis. I was diagnosed with UPSC after a hysterectomy in June. My gyn/onc didn't expect cancer..and my lymph nodes weren't checked. She did do a pelvic wash which was negative, and the tumor invaded less than half of the myometrium. But from what I've been…

Hair regrowth
Hi, I was wondering how many times you probably cut your hair before letting it grow. Mine is growing, but it is very thin. It looks like chick's feathers. I have shaved my head twice, since my hair started to regrow, and I am just about to do it again. What have you guys done in regard to this?

Too Little Treatment?
I worry I am not getting enough pro-active treatment? I had grade 1, stage 1b (39% invasive) uterine cancer removed via a davinci complete hysterectomy, 16 lymph nodes - negative, pelvic wash was neg as well. No add'l treatment beyond surgery was needed. I know, all pretty good news. However, I am so worried about a…

I am in observation again. Hurrah.
Saw the doctor and I am officially in observation again. I will go monthly for lab tests and then CAT scans every 3-4 months. If I have symptoms or the CA 125 jumps significantly the CAT scans will be sooner. My CA 125 was 43.5 last month and this month it is 43.7. So I would say that is my baseline. I had 7 chemo…

Papillary Serous
My mom was just diagnosed with Papillary Serous Grade 3 Endometrial Cancer 2 days ago. She is 72 years old and has had vaginal bleeding for the last few months on and off. Papillary Serous
My mom's CA125 was 88. I was told 40% of cases of elevated CA125 have metastasized. She is having a hysterectomy next Tuesday. Says she feels very bloated?
