What to do when you're new to all this, a response from Karen, taken from another thread.
This is a post by Karen from another thread, but was so pertinent I thought it deserved its own posting. Here are a few suggestions that may be helpful. You want to have your surgery done by a GYN Oncologist so if you are seeing a regular GYN, ask for recommendations and then do some research on the ones suggested. Talk to…

Gemzar
Has anyone had experience with gemzar? Everything I read on the net sounds so gruesome. Topetocan did not work for me. It was the easiest chemo I've ever taken so I was disappointed. I start this week and I'm so nervous. I know someone took this, I thought it was Up so Lifting but I can remember; I know it was a positive…

Taxol UPSC please reply re: side effects!
My 78 year old mother has tolerated her previous treatments quite well in past 3 years (carboplatin/paclitaxel, radiation twice, Doxil last year) She is now receiving Taxol only through a port - 3 times a month with one week off for the next 4 months. She has had a total of 4 treatments and is so weak she can hardly get…

Stage 1B, beginning radiation and 2 very tiny lung nodules found..,anything to worry about?
Hi. I am posting this for my Mom. She is still learning how to use a discussion board so I'm helping. Mom is 64, uterine cancer was unexpectedly found after vaginal hysterectomy. Because of that, lymph nodes were not sampled. Cancer was invasive adenocarcinoma, and was confined to uterus as far as we know but was 80% into…

Drug Shortage
Hi Ladies. My sister-in-law has had UPSC since 2006. She did two surgeries, aggressive radiation and carboplatinum without a lot of success. The GOOD news is that Doxil is working! Bad news is that we learned of the shortage of Doxil--so that she cannot get her next treatment. I've started writing our pathetic politicians…

A Gentleman and a Robot Project
I gave the scrub cap to my gynecologic oncologist today. He absolutely loved it. The nurse loved it. The medical student loved it. He laughed so hard and gave me a big hug (none of this has ever happened before). He says he's going to wear it in the OR and he just might - he modeled it in the exam room. He appreciated both…

After 5 1/2 years finally got port out!
I just wanted to share this news. I had my port put in in October of 2005 and been having the darn thing flushed for over 4 years once I was finished with treatment. That meant it was a monthly reminder all those years. I am happy to have it out.

Soy consumption? Controlling hot flushes?
I was wondering what your doctors have told you about eating SOY. My onco told me, after surgery, to stay away from it. I try my best not to consume any, but almost everything has soy as ingredient, including protein power. I am definitely going to ask my onco in my next appointment, but I am just curious. In the last few…

Preliminary Results of CT Scan: Stable is a good thing?
I will be discussing the CT report in detail with my oncologist next week. However, he sent me this message: "The CT showed no significant change, indicating stable disease compared to the last exam. I ran out of tumeric and it is really hard to find it locally here in 'sticksville'. Have any of you purchased it online where you got a decent price and felt the source was reliable?
