Should I be alarmed? stomach cramps - vomiting
About a month and a half ago while at work and after we all came back from lunch, I started getting cramps which progressively got worse over the next several until eventually I vomited several times. After that I was ok. At that time I thought I had just gotten some food poisoning. Last Monday, it happened again. Not as…

Developed Pulmonary Embolus (Blood Clot) to Lung
Hello Dearest Friends, I developed two blood clots to my lung and we discovered it Tuesday. I had a spiral CT in the ER which identified the two clots and ultrasound of the legs; the clot started with a small blood clot under my left knee. My symptoms were not sudden or dramatic; I had been developing slight shortness of…

new article out today in OncologySTAT on endometrial cancer
It's so RARE to have new research published on endometrial cancer, that I wanted to share some of the highlights of this new article that came out today. If anyone wants to read the whole article, I saved it since the URL was password protected and I wasn't sure you would be able to access it without OncologySTAT…

Financial setback after cancer treatment
I'm not sure if this is the place to get started on this topic, but you all have become my friends; and I'd rather have your support than the support of strangers. When I was diagnosed with UPSC in March 2008, I stopped working. I am a freelance writer/editor, which for me is very intense work that requires total…

Taking a break from the boards
I've decided that I have been spending way too much time here. Mostly, it's because I've made such terrific friends, people I don't really have to explain myself to. However, I've been obsessive about my reading and posting, and I have been avoiding so much of the rest of my life. That being said, I will be making an…

Full hysterectomy and epidurals
It looks like I might be headed for a full hysterectomy soon but because of heart damage from prior chemo drugs etc. they won't let me have a general anaesthetic so are suggesting an epidural. Has anyone here had a full hysterectormy with an epidural? How was it? Thanks.

New Here
Hi everyone, I just registered and have not done the "about me" page yet. Just thought I would say hello. I was diagnosed with uterine cancer last december and had a robotic hysterectomy with no further treatment since they thought they got it all. Unfortunately it has come back and I now I have three large tumors in my…

Good results from today's checkup
Today, I had my six-month checkup with my gyne-onc. It has been two years and ten months since I finished six rounds of carbo/taxol and brachytherapy for Stage 1a UPSC, and my doctor said everything looks great. I was terrified for weeks before this appointment, so I am happy to report these results. Love to all, Jill

signs of recurrence
Hi all, I'm basically new to this board, and apologize if this has been discussed already. I'm diagnosed with UPSC, stage 1 or 2, to my oncologists best judgement. No lymph nodes were sampled, but scans are clear and nothing detected in pelvic wash. When my hysterectomy was performed,(including the fallopian tubes and…

Heparin flush for port--maybe not a good idea?
I posted this on the ovarian cancer discussion board and thought this board might be interested in this information: Information about heparin promoting neoangiogenesis (the growth of new blood vessels) is in the Aug/Sept 2011 issue of the Townsend Letter. The article is all about how WONDERFUL heparin and something called…

I was recently diagnosed with papillary adenocarcinoma - probable endometroid type. I am 27 and I do not have kids yet. I have not yet spoken to an oncologist about this diagnoses and what It means. September
I just learned that September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness month. I haven't seen anything on TV, haven't seen everyone and his/her brother wearing teal or peach ribbons, haven't heard nor seen a peep about it. I was at the market this afternoon and there was that stupid wine display with the pink ribbon, tho! I am very…

Special questions for a "second opinion"?
Dear all, Tomorrow morning I have my appointment with another gyn-onc at a completely different cancer center. I'm realizing now (belatedly) that I need to formulate some questions to ask--and I could use your help. I think I want to know his basic approach to treatment & to working with patients, first. One of my biggest…

Ginger, Beta-Carotene, and Anti-Fungals
Thanks, Jill, for starting to gather all the pertinent information on foods' anti-cancer properties. A huge job, but invaluable to us! Having read through the responses to her first posting on ginger, would like to add the following: I'm a firm believer in the efficacy of ginger. Years ago, a very annoying tremor in my…

Genetic Counseling/Testing
Has anyone here had genetic counseling or testing? I am scheduled to start this in a couple of weeks and find it appalling how little I know about my ancestors' health. UPSC: applicable findings from ovarian cancer research
I am new on this board, but I spend a lot of time on the ovarian cancer board on inspire.com since originally I thought I had ovarian cancer, and later because I learned that UPSC behaves very much like ovarian cancer and has similar prognosis and outlook. In fact, other than the fact the primary site of UPSC is uterine,…
