CT Scans
USPC-hysterectomy next week. My mom had a CT scan which showed no apparent masses outside of the uterus, which was music to my ears. Her chest x=ray showed a shadow that her doctor thinks may be pneumonia. She had a cough and sore throat a week ago. They are now ordering a CT Scan of her chest to rule this out prior to…

Biopsy
I've read that when you have a uterine biopsy you will bleed some afterwards and you need a pad. Is this true if you have gone through menopause? Thanks for the help.

new here UPSC stage 1 or 2 (no lymph node testing)
Hi ladies, I'm new here and been reading about this very scary diagnosis. I was diagnosed with UPSC after a hysterectomy in June. My gyn/onc didn't expect cancer..and my lymph nodes weren't checked. She did do a pelvic wash which was negative, and the tumor invaded less than half of the myometrium. But from what I've been…

Hair regrowth
Hi, I was wondering how many times you probably cut your hair before letting it grow. Mine is growing, but it is very thin. It looks like chick's feathers. I have shaved my head twice, since my hair started to regrow, and I am just about to do it again. What have you guys done in regard to this?

Too Little Treatment?
I worry I am not getting enough pro-active treatment? I had grade 1, stage 1b (39% invasive) uterine cancer removed via a davinci complete hysterectomy, 16 lymph nodes - negative, pelvic wash was neg as well. No add'l treatment beyond surgery was needed. I know, all pretty good news. However, I am so worried about a…

Less-invasive cancer screenings
I recognize that this report deals with screenings for colon cancer, but I thought it would be of interest to some of you: Study Finds Convenient Fecal Blood Test a Suitable Screen for Colorectal Cancer: http://www.cancernetwork.com/colorectal-cancer/content//10165/1919400

I am in observation again. Hurrah.
Saw the doctor and I am officially in observation again. I will go monthly for lab tests and then CAT scans every 3-4 months. If I have symptoms or the CA 125 jumps significantly the CAT scans will be sooner. My CA 125 was 43.5 last month and this month it is 43.7. So I would say that is my baseline. I had 7 chemo…

A Last Curtain Call - Hopefully Now that my chemo treatment is over and I have been declared to be in remission, I have decided to explore what I could do to maximize my odds for a good long term prognosis. I have a cancer with one of the highest mortality rates diagnosed at the most advanced stage. I am optimistic for my…

Papillary Serous
My mom was just diagnosed with Papillary Serous Grade 3 Endometrial Cancer 2 days ago. She is 72 years old and has had vaginal bleeding for the last few months on and off. She had a D&C 2 weeks ago and they removed what the doctor referred to as "tons of polyps" but she said none of them appeared to be cancerous. My 4…

No residual Mullarian adenosarcoma in path report
Had total hysterectomy for Mullarian adenosarcoma on July 12. Path report came back. There was no cancer found anywhere. Doc thinks cancer was contained in the polyp that was removed in my original D & C. He says I don't need to see him for a year. I told him I would feel better seeing him in 6 mos. I am having a hard time…

What to do when you're new to all this, a response from Karen, taken from another thread.
This is a post by Karen from another thread, but was so pertinent I thought it deserved its own posting. Here are a few suggestions that may be helpful. You want to have your surgery done by a GYN Oncologist so if you are seeing a regular GYN, ask for recommendations and then do some research on the ones suggested. Talk to…

Gemzar
Has anyone had experience with gemzar? Everything I read on the net sounds so gruesome. Topetocan did not work for me. It was the easiest chemo I've ever taken so I was disappointed. Taxol UPSC please reply re: side effects!
My 78 year old mother has tolerated her previous treatments quite well in past 3 years (carboplatin/paclitaxel, radiation twice, Doxil last year) She is now receiving Taxol only through a port - 3 times a month with one week off for the next 4 months. She has had a total of 4 treatments and is so weak she can hardly get…

Stage 1B, beginning radiation and 2 very tiny lung nodules found..,anything to worry about?
Hi. I am posting this for my Mom. She is still learning how to use a discussion board so I'm helping. Mom is 64, uterine cancer was unexpectedly found after vaginal hysterectomy. Because of that, lymph nodes were not sampled. Cancer was invasive adenocarcinoma, and was confined to uterus as far as we know but was 80% into…

Drug Shortage
Hi Ladies. My sister-in-law has had UPSC since 2006. She did two surgeries, aggressive radiation and carboplatinum without a lot of success. The GOOD news is that Doxil is working! Bad news is that we learned of the shortage of Doxil--so that she cannot get her next treatment. I've started writing our pathetic politicians…
