Hi everyone,

My mum is having lots of trouble sleeping. It has been an ongoing thing for many years and she takes some anti-depressants to help her sleep.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to help in this critical time? She wakes up at around 1pm and can't go back to sleep. I'm sure it is partly due to stress but she runs, does yoga etc so not sure what else she can do to help with stress?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Tali

    Hello
I am sorry you have to be part of this board, but at the same time we are here to help you.
If your mom currently going through chemo?
If so, perhaps what is keeping her awake is the steroids we usually get with the treatment.

I finished treatment about 6 weeks ago, and I am still having trouble sleeping. I was getting steroids once a week for 3 months, and the last 3 months only once a week.
I am taking Ambien. It helps most of the time.
If your mom decides to take it, tell her to take it an hour before bed.
I also take an anti anxiety to alternate with Ambien.

I hope your mom gets some more sleep soon, since sleeping is very important while in treatment.

    Please keep us posted. :)
