hi claudia, i. too, sometimes forget who i've said what to, or where i've read what. i do remember now, however, that you said after your surgery two nodes became enlarged (almost exactly the size as mine), but stopped growing once you started your tumeric/ginger/green tea, etc., routine, which is what i'm hoping will…

High Potassium
I had blood work a couple of days ago, and my PCP called me today to tell the my Potassium was high. He did not say how high. He recommended me to not eat much of food high in Potassium, which is hard since leafy greens are high in Potassium and I eat lot of it. I have read that chemo can cause this, but also a…

Neuropathy
I finished taxol #6 on time; had somewhat of a reaction but my daughter flew home and cooked three meals a day and poured fluids into me. We watched videos in the afternoon and talked in between naps. One thing I have learned from this cancer is how much I love my family and how much they love me brings tears to my eyes! I…

Only Child Asks About Single Mother with UPSC
Dear All, I see all the love and encouragement and thought I would take this first step in giving and receiving. I wanted some of your perspective on two things: 1. I am an only child with a single mother. I am in my 30's, she in her 60's. No siblings and my father passed when I was 15. I have no wife, girlfriend or kids.…

Eating Yogurt
I am having the hardest time gaining weight, because I cannot eat the minimum about of calories or proteins. I saw my nutritionist today, and she told me I needed to eat more protein. I do not eat any red or white meat, dairy or processed sugar. So, that includes yogurt. Does anyone of you eat organic Greek yogurt? My…

Soooo.....Dumb question number one....HAIR
I've been encouraged to ask questions. even dumb ones, so here we go. I am currently about 16 days past my first round of chemo and my hair is falling out. It seems that most women shave their head when they start losing their hair but I am being bullheaded about it and it has nothing to do with being able to create hair…

It's so RARE to have new research published on endometrial cancer, that I wanted to share some of the highlights of this new article that came out today. If anyone wants to read the whole article, I saved it since the URL was password protected and I wasn't sure you would be able to access it without OncologySTAT…

Financial setback after cancer treatment
I'm not sure if this is the place to get started on this topic, but you all have become my friends; and I'd rather have your support than the support of strangers. When I was diagnosed with UPSC in March 2008, I stopped working. I am a freelance writer/editor, which for me is very intense work that requires total…

Taking a break from the boards
I've decided that I have been spending way too much time here. Mostly, it's because I've made such terrific friends, people I don't really have to explain myself to. However, I've been obsessive about my reading and posting, and I have been avoiding so much of the rest of my life. That being said, I will be making an…

Full hysterectomy and epidurals
It looks like I might be headed for a full hysterectomy soon but because of heart damage from prior chemo drugs etc. they won't let me have a general anaesthetic so are suggesting an epidural. Has anyone here had a full hysterectormy with an epidural? How was it? Thanks.

Good results from today's checkup
Today, I had my six-month checkup with my gyne-onc. It has been two years and ten months since I finished six rounds of carbo/taxol and brachytherapy for Stage 1a UPSC, and my doctor said everything looks great. I was terrified for weeks before this appointment, so I am happy to report these results. Love to all, Jill

signs of recurrence
Hi all, I'm basically new to this board, and apologize if this has been discussed already. I'm diagnosed with UPSC, stage 1 or 2, to my oncologists best judgement. No lymph nodes were sampled, but scans are clear and nothing detected in pelvic wash. When my hysterectomy was performed,(including the fallopian tubes and…

Heparin flush for port--maybe not a good idea?
I posted this on the ovarian cancer discussion board and thought this board might be interested in this information: Information about heparin promoting neoangiogenesis (the growth of new blood vessels) is in the Aug/Sept 2011 issue of the Townsend Letter. The article is all about how WONDERFUL heparin and something called…
