How to Post Pictures
Hey, guys, I've gotten a couple of questions on how to post pictures inside the post here on CSN. It's not very user intuitive, so I'll go step by step. I would recommend opening your post in a new tab on your browser so you can switch back to this one for reference. 1: The picture must be online already (like on Facebook,…

Cancer and Alcoholism
This is not kidney cancer specific, and I have posted over on the head and neck cancer forum too. Has anybody had to deal with (either personally or with friend/family) recovering from cancer and alcoholism at the same time? My brother has throat cancer and he had a partial laryngectomy last week. He will be going home…

Made it to two years-ish.
I haven't been here in a while. Briefly, i had a radical right nephrectomy June 5, 2015. I was feeling pretty confident having made it to my two-year anniversary. Never really considered that my scans were scheduled on same day. In a demonstration of ineptitude, my scan results showed up in my patient portal almost…

Damn scanxiety!
I have my three months chest/abdomen/pelvis CT on Wednesday. The anxiety is starting. I really don't care for the 1 week wait between the scan and seeing my oncologist. I was spoiled before. Used to I'd get scanned in the morning and see him in the afternoon and get the result. Three things really bothering me of late.…

chemo before Sutent
I was wondering if any one started on a different chemo treatment before using Sutent? I was to start treatment last week but because of a rapid heart beat and now I have to have radiation for a tumor on my windpipe I don't think they can use Sutent at this time. They think the radiation will stop the rapid heart beat…

THE KIDNEY IS OUT
John went today to have the right kidney removed. We knew they were going to be taking the kidney, nodes, and adrenal, but there was a question as to whether the liver or colon were affected. We were told 4 hours good time for no complications, six hours if they had to resect any of the liver or colon. Just over three…

I am a 31 year old female. In July, 2015, I incidentally found out I had a mass in my kidney from an ultrasound in the ER due to a gallstone. Someone should really tell you these kind of things!
So my husband has been on chemo pills for 3 calendar years now. Our insurance out of pocket maximum is $5700 per individual a year. The COPAY for chemo pills is $3000 for a 30 day supply. So we usually pay a month and a 1/2 then they are free for a year. I just found out they have programs that will help you pay for this.…

First scan after starting Votrient
Pet scan result: Stable for now. The lymph node has shrunk from 2.3 cm x 3 cm to 1.8 cm x 2.1 cm, however SUV uptake went from 4.8 to 5.5. The 9 mm node on my right lung has disappeared. The 4 mm node on the left lung has grown to 1.1 but shows minimal SUV uptake (could be inflammatory). There is still lingular infiltrate…

Tomorrow is the big day
I have to be at the hospital at 5;30 am tomorrow morning for hopefully a partial that may turn into a radical because of the location. I'm getting very nervous, which I am sure all of you know about. This is going to be my "new normal". I just need to learn to go with it. Do what needs to be done and get on with it like…
