Scared Partner
Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. Yesterday we found out that my boyfriend of 4.5 years has signet ring cell carcinoma. Started with severe stomach pains, less than 2 weeks ago, and the doctor thought it was appendicitis. He had an op to remove his appendix, but during the operation the surgeon found a large mass on his…

Is anyone able to work during chemotherapy
I am just wondering if anyone works during chemotherapy. Granted, I am still recovering from my first surgery, but I am only two infusions in, and even just taking a shower exhausts me.

CEA rise--Other reasons? aside from cancer
I guess I just want to be in denial. lol. My CEA went to 2.6 (which is still considered normal) but it has always been 1 something since diagnosis until chemo. I just want to put the blame on any other reason, NOT cancer! Hehehe. No seriously, what other factors, aside from cancer, that could cause a CEA rise? I know it…

Still Here
Well, it's exactly 1 year since my diagnosis. Last Valentines Day my CT indicated a large blockage in my sigmoid colon. Admitted to the ER that evening, monitored and prepared through the next day for an inpatient colonoscopy. Diagnosis confirmed stage 3b. Surgery to remove 12 inches of the sigmoid the following day. Last…

Magnesium supplement
Tanstaafl brought up the subject of Magnesium supplements in my Vitamin D post, but I thought I would separate this out as a new post. I had not considered magnesium supplements before Tanstaafl's suggestion, but as I did some research, it seems that between 50% and 79% of Americans are magnesium deficient. Magnesium is…

Oxaliplatin dose
Hi group. I have received 6 doses of oxaliplatin on the FOLFOX regimen for a cumulative dose of 840 mg. I have been experiencing fairly severe neuropathy that continues until my next treatment. I’m concerned about the neuropathy continuing after chemo and how it will affect my quality of life. Has anyone else asked the Dr…

Has Anyone Seen This?
It's on MSN this morning. It talks about two different bacterias that come together and create colon cancer. Interesting. Might explain it for me because it's not in my family as far as I know. When I've mentioned my grandmother that had it, I'm adopted so it's not inherited and I've met my birth mother and it's not there.…

Delayed healing R/T Chemo?
Hi All! New to the group and have a question. I had laparoscopic APR in October 2017. My perineal incision had almost quit draining until my 3rd round of chemo (Folfox6). Now I have daily bloody drainage and increased pain. My Oncologist doesn’t think it’s due to the chemo, but I’m not convinced. Anyone else have this…

Care and feeding of abdominal scars
Hi: I am about nine months out from surgery and I have some questions about the scars. I have four scars, three are small, (laproscopic) and one is about four inches across the upper abdomen where they removed a section of the colon. Initially, I was pleased with the healing and pretty much had life go back to normal. But…

Super frustrated! Am I the only one?
Hi all. I find myself to be super frustrated and anxious lately. One reason I know why is because yet again my treatment plan is undecided which is at least half my fault. I was unable to go for my last CT on the 11th due to uncontrolled diarrhea (ugh) so now everything is thrown off. Can't get another one scheduled until…

A bit anxious!
I'm feeling a bit anxious today. Tomorrow I meet with my oncology doctor, for the first time since my last treatment on November 8th, to go over my blood work. Her office told me that I would not have a CT Scan again for another 3 months, which I am uncomfortable with, as I have been on disability. If I go back to work and…

What Foods Do You Miss?
As I've mentioned before, I have an illeostomy and have internal adhesions that are wrapping around things and my diet is even more limted than it was the first year or two after the illeostomy. I won't have it reversed because it's better than the IBS I always had and it wouldn't help with the adhesions anyway. But I was…

Support and Advice please! Scans this week too!
I need some support and knowledge please! I posted previously about my dh's CEA coming down during chemo with Folfox and Avastin. He started chemo 11/29 and his CEA was 100 on that day and then dropped to 41 a month later and now is 37. While I know that trending down is good, I expected a bigger drop this last one. So a…
