Today I beat the 2 year recurrence wall
Hi all, I have been having all my blood work and scans this week. It has been a rough time since this was the 2 year mark since my last recurrence. Since being diagnosed 6 years and a few months ago, the tests at the 2 year mark have always found a recurrence. I have not been able to get past that point. So this week I was…

It’s gotten out of control
My husband was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer one year ago at age 37. We have two small children. I love my husband, and I’ve been by his side through everything this past year. But something has changed, I am wondering if it is the daily dose of dexamethasone added; aside from the IV dose of the steroid that he gets…

New to Forum-So Many Questions
I am pleased to have found this forum and apologize for having so many questions. As I am sure most of you can understand, my brain is whirling with emotions and I am just trying to cope with something that I never thought could happen to me (fear, depressions, anger). I was diagnosed on October 31 with Rectal Cancer (age…

Fostering a Dog!
I had to share this! Being unable to work due to unstable health issues, weakness, issues that crop up and make me miss work and now going back on the chemo that will make my face look like a pizza, means I'm at home most of the time and feeling useless. I feel like I contribute nothing and am just a drain. We have two…

Removing my port
since they will be taking my port out tomorrow morning does that mean I’m being deported? :-) seriously, I was surprised they said I don’t need a driver. I am going to ask to be blindfolded. I don’t want to see them cutting.

TACE procedure, anyone have experience with this
My husband just completed 12 rounds of Folfox (?spelling?) and will now change to Folfiri due to numbness in hands and feet. He is also scheduled to meet with IR regarding TACE. I am wondering what the side effects of this would be, has anyone had this done? How long is it, is it an overnight thing or same day like his…

Stage 4 colon, vomiting bile, dark urine
Hello everyone, My mother, 61, initially was diagonized eith Stage 3 colon cancer in 2016, and surgery and a chemo regimen. We were monitoring her health and levels after the chemo, and the levels were normal. Suddenly, in December 2017, she started having horrible stomach pain. We did MRI and CT scan and found that now…

Recent Vitamin D article
Once again, this 2018 article is from the "for what it is worth" department. Personally, I am a vitamin D believer. http://ar.iiarjournals.org/content/38/2/1121.long While awaiting conclusive results on the role of UVB exposure and vitamin D in the risk of cancer incidence, progression, and mortality, individuals should…

CT Scan Results
I got them today. Nothing exciting. My lung mets are a bit bigger since the last scan in October. My CEA came down a tiny bit, whatever. Unfortunately, the adhesions continue to be a problem and now both kidneys are being pinched off by adhesions that have encircled them. So I guess I'll have to have another stent put in.…

Hiccups?
In the past couple of years or so I've had hiccups so often its crazy. I hold my breath and they stop pretty quickly but some days I've had them over and over. Today has been a good day, only 14 times so far, some days it's 5 or 6 times an hour. I have a bit of nausea pretty much all the time and when I get them I feel…

Nuts, again

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center - My Experience
On December 29, 2017, a member of this forum posted their "honest review" of their experience at MSKCC. As someone who strongly believes I would not be here if I hadn't gone to MSKCC, I found the original post to be disturbing to say the least. While not everyone has good experiences at every hospital, I found that some of…

Low dose aspirin--oops?
I take a daily low-dose aspirin. I don't expect to change this strategy. However, I found this study interesting: Low-dose aspirin use after colorectal cancer diagnosis was not associated with improved CRC-specific survival in this large Scottish population-based cohort study. Specifically, low-dose aspirin use was…

DH has a maintenance plan for now
DH completed his 12 rounds of Folfox, 5fu pump, and Avastin about 1 month ago. He did really well and somehow has remained positive and so strong during all of this. He still has a little neuropathy in his hands, but hasn't really caused any day to day issues. The biggest pain for him now is the blood clot he developed in…

Still unsure about ablation, Radiologist keeps changing plan
So I am still scheduled for the ablation of liver tumors on March 12th. Since my last post, I spoke with the Radiologist that I've been dealing with regarding this, he called after I cancelled my appointment with him for a 15 minute consultation. It was going to be between patients for him but I was sick that day and had…

Stage 4, 30 mets on liver
My husband was diagnoised on Thanksgiving afternoon. No symptoms other than occassional constipation. His CEA after 3 treatments on FolFox & Avastain has gone from 375 to 170....which to us, sounds like good news. In 3 more treatments they will repeat scans. So far on the regime he has not had any ill effects. He is…

Finally!!!!! (for now anyway)
Met with my oncologist this morning, to review the results of my recent CT Scan and blood work, which were the first since my treatments ended on November 8th. I am soooooooooooooooo happy and relieved to have heard the words "you're cancer free". I generally consider myself to be a strong individual, but I must say, this…

Husband ending chemo at 3 months
We found a study published online that's persuaded my husband that 3 months of chemo will be enough and 6 months will not be worth it. Has anyone seen this study? https://www.cancer.gov/news-events/cancer-currents-blog/2017/adjuvant-chemo-colorectal Almost 13,000 people in the study, several countries, no commercial…

Lung metastasis - any suggestions or advice?
Hi all Greetings from Norway! I am researching options to what my oncologist has presented to me as treatment (which isn't the most promising). Has anyone had a recurrence near the original site?
It seems like some of us get mets to the liver or lungs or even other areas but how often does anyone get another colon or rectal tumour? I had an MRI in September and they said there's nothing there. But for the past several weeks I've had a lot of rectal discomfort. It hurts to sit down and hurts even more if I stand for…
