Chemo on Hold/Concerned
My Mom was scheduled to have her 4th chemo treatment today, but after her counts were taken that decided to cancel todays treatment. Her platelets were 91, they said they should be between 150-400. Is this a normal reaction because of chemo. My concern is that if they delay her chemo her cancer can continue to spead. Any…

Survivors living with cancer who are not NED
I know there are many on this board who are actively dealing with cancer but are not "NED". Some have been doing this for awhile + I would love to hear how you (long + short-term) are doing it. Many talk about this cancer as sometimes "chronic" + that may be how I survive this disease, which I am determined to do. Please…

Can it be colorectal cancer?
My mom's first oncologist have told us based on the biopsy that she has a breast cancer that has metastasized to her backbone where she had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove part of the tumor. The biopsy results of the tissues removed from her back revealed that she may have breast , lung or bone cancer. She went to see…

Does anyone else think this way?
I posted this in another post to Gail but, I'm throwing it out there out of curiosity. I am walking around with active cancer growth and until I catch a cold or some bug or something, I don't think of myself as sick. Does this mean that I've accepted cancer as just part of my norm? Am I the only one who does this?

What's On Your "Bucket List?"
Never let it be said that Sundance doesn’t occasionally throw some “lighter fare” onto the grill to satisfy our appetites. I thought this topic would still be thought provoking and provide some entertainment for us. And it should be a good thread and give us a good barometer on what we feel is important for us and what we…

Port/BP/Blood draw questions, need second opinions
When I first got my port installed, the surgeon told me not got let them take my blood pressure, or draw blood from the arm on the side where my port is (my left side). I know that blood can be drawn from the port itself, but I don't go to the infusion center to get my blood drawn, because it is too far, so they take it…

The Reading Room: "Treat the Patient, Not the CT Scan"
For those who might be interested, this thoughtful piece ran in today's NY Times. I certainly know that there were many times during my husband's treatment when we desperately could have used some of the words of comfort Abraham Verghese advocates in this piece. Hatshepsut Treat the Patient, Not the CT Scan

Got bad news today.
I had MRI on Thursday. When I was diagnosed with colon cancer on 1/8, they did a CT scan and said that I had an undefined mass on the left lobe of my liver and a spot on my right lobe. When the surgeon removed my tumor on 1/14 he said he got a good look at the liver and the mass on the left lobe appeared to be something…
