Caretaker here. Don't post much anymore but I do lurk all the time. Anyways, just got back from my wife's annual check-up or results from her CT scan. All is clear. This makes 4 years NED. We or should I say she has a colonoscopy the end of March to verify nothing is going on.

Bathing while on Folfox
Hi, just had my first Folfox go around this week and am seeing several of the symptoms mentioned here. A little discomfort with the first bite, and a definite sensitvity to cold water and air. A breath of 40 degree air outside set my scalp tingling and even slightly cooled water on my hand set them both to tingling. So, I…

Metastatic Adenocarcinoma of the Jejunum (Small Intestine)
Finding some stories on these discussion boards that are very encouraging especially since this cancer is rare but have yet to find a match to someone else going through this same cancer. My 58 yr old husband was just diagnosed stage 4 Small Intestine Cancer of the Jejunum at the end of January. There are small metastases…

Hey Trubrit
There are 4 new posts to really old threads. Is it just coincidence or is there some sort of problem with the board? You seem to be our moderator, if you will. Any thoughts? Should we contact the adminstrators or just suggest folks start a new thread? Traci

Getting brain surgery
well I had a rough headache for over a week with unsteady walking. Onc suddenly made me go to the ER after keeping them informed. Well. I have two mets on the Basie of my brain pressing on my ceribelum (I think) and my spinal cord. So Monday I'm having brain surgery for those two. I have eight other small mets but they are…

Movies and Book w/ People Dying of Cancer
This has bugged me for some time. I feel like it's kind of a cop out. An easy way to get sympathy for a character and to make a movie sad. We watched the new one about aliens the other night, Arrival. The main character's daughter dies of 'something' but she's bald when she dies so it's obviously meant to be cancer. I…

Trying to cope with my dad's cancer..

I'm 26 years old and as of March 13, 2017 my family and I have found out that my dad has stage 4 colon cancer and it's spread to his liver. His cancer is very aggressive and we have been told with treatments he will only be with us…

Frequency of scans
How often do people have scans? I had posted awhile ago wondering if I should do xeloda. For a variety of reasons I decided against it. I thought I was told I would have a CT scan every six months initially but then the oncologist said annually. That seems like a long time. I have an appointment at the Mayo Clinic for an…

hair coloring
Hi all, So far, four chemos in, i have managed to keep a good deal of my hair. I'm going to get clip on extensions to try to fill it out. My issue is I am not a natural blond. I'm okay now, but am scared to dye my hair in case it all falls out or does some damage to me. What have all of you not natural blonds who have so…

Switching to Xeloda
After reading about all of you being on Xeloda instead of the three day infusion of 5-FU, I asked my dr why she chose what she chose. She indicated it is so she can have a better watch on patients she is more concerned about since it is an every other week treatment. She offered me to try the xeloda since they were already…

2 surgeries in one day, anyone???
Hey there, I meet with the surgeon today. We've decided to do the liver abalation ( 2 spots on opposite sides of the liver) and the bowel resection at the same operative setting. I believe the liver surgeon will go first then the bowel surgery done robotically. They anticipate I'll be in the hospital for 4 days post op.…

Just an inclusion, which is a fancy word for surgery scar tissue with fluid build up aka a cyst.
So doc says it's just an inclusion which is scar tissue with fluid behind it, a very fancy word for cyst. I have a lot of scar tissue from the surgery. I requested to biopsy for peace of mind anyway since the lump is hard but she said she can't justify when I just had a clean scan and she doesn't see the need for it, she's…

Dry mouth from chemo
My mouth during the night is so dry, (I'm talking no saliva at all) , that it actually wakes me up 5 or 6 times. I have water at the bedside and I drink that when I wake up. I tried some of the biogene products out there but hated them. I rinse my mouth with salt and baking soda during the day. Anyone have any suggestions?…

Clear CT Scan Results

Nost Bleeds and Bloody Phlegm - Avastin?
Hi all - The last three treatments (folfiri - irinotecan plus other chemos + avastin) I have been having nose bleeds and scabbing inside my nose. My doctor said he could cut the Avastin (not sure if he means totally or just reduce). I really don't want to change my treatment, as I am able to stop the bleeding quite…

Transportation Assistance Program
Just an FYI. During my orientation/info session at my 1st Chemo treatment. I was given a form to fill to get a gas card from the ACS to help defray the added expenses of going to my treatments. Has anybody else gotten a fuel card or used this service? I kind of feel guilty thinking about using it, but I travel a minimum of…

11 down one to go
Can't believe the end is in sight. I just finished my 11th round of folifox/oxy treatment for Stage 3 colon cancer and looking forward to only one more treatment. For me, I feel lucky that while my plateletts have been just above 70,000 I have been able to continue with treatments. I have to say while the treatments…
