Coming off Tamoxifen
After being on Tamoxifen for six months, both my surgeon and my onocologist said that I don't have to take it anymore because I chose masectomy over radiation. My question is this: I've been off it about two weeks and my emotions are pretty raw. My periods were really messed up while on it, and maybe everything is getting…

Question
Now that I am waiting to get times for CT scan and MRI on my arm. As it turns out I did find a lump less than one cm and the other thing growing they don't know what it is and biopsy isn't for them, she doesn't think they will even get the tumor that did show up on the ultra sound. Funny how 14 years ago I missed allot of…

Infusion port question
I had a port placed in my chest in July for chemo infusion when I had my bilateral mastectomy. It has been a lifesaver!!! I will have it through probably Dec. 2010 due to Herceptin infusions through August. It will be another little procedure to have it removed and I am not going to let this stuff slow me down, so it will…

last chemo treatment tomorrow
I have my last treatment tomorrow & I'm getting very nervous. My oncologist finally called me back today & she is concerned because of the severe hives outbreak. She said something is causing toxicity in my body & she's afraid it's taxotere. Part of me is afraid it's going to kill me if I do it, but I'm afraid the cancer…

Survivors
This may have been done already, but I was wondering about all of the survivors out there. It would be reassuring to hear what kind of bc you had and how many years you have been a survivor.. I just finished my radiation (chemo and lumpectomy before) and just feeling unsure I'm going to survive this.... Seeing oncologist…

Taste Buds - I'm not sure but I think my taste buds are changing. What about your taste buds?
I finished radiation in January. I started Arimidex on Thursday, March 18, 2010. I am not certain, but I think my taste buds are changing. Some foods and some beverages don't taste the same. Does anyone have this problem? Lots of Hugs, Janelle

Quote of the Day
Just received a card from a b/c survivor who has made it her mission to inspire other survivors, while coping with a recurrance herself. Hope this lifts your spirits as much as it did mine: "No one can go back and make a brand new Start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new Ending." Hugs to all, Judy

Need to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide!
We need to ban dihydrogen monoxide - it is so horrible and kills people! It can burn you, it's in acid rain, it can cause you to stop breathing, it can sink boats - so many things it's involved with that can and does kill people. * * * * * * * * BUT without Dihydrogen Monoxide we would not exist - it's…

First Mammogram post treatment.
Hi - not looking forward to this, after all those mammograms are a bit painful under normal circumstances for me, but since my breast seems swollen and sore most of the time I am concerned with the level of pain I will experience. Yes, I think I am being a baby about this, but would like to hear from others how their first…

Just because these thoughts are shallow doesn't make them any less true...and some of them are funny
SHALLOW THOUGHTS FOR TODAY...... * Nothing ticks you off more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. * I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. * There is a great need for a sarcasm font. * I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than…

Questions from a Young Newcomer
I have a few questions about some things I've recently dealt with. First of all, I am 24 with breast cancer. I finished chemo almost two months ago, and I am a two and a half weeks out of surgery. I had a bilateral mastectomy and still recovering. I will be starting radiation in a week or two, and probably a year will be…

Financial Assistance - Your Postings Helped An Uninsurable Breast Cancer Woman in Need
To All of You Who Post, If I did not have a recurrence, I would never have been on this site nor would I have been able to give a breast cancer woman the needed information relating to financial assistance. I have known Amy, a jeweler, for a number of years. I only see her and talk to her at the art fairs where she…

If you ever had a DOG ********** You will love these HA HA'S! Enjoy
FUNNY DOG JOKE Why it’s nice to be a dog… No one expects you to take a bath every day. Your friends never expect you to pay for lunch, dinner, or anything else for that matter. When it’s raining, you can lie around the house all day and never worry about being fired. If it itches, you can reach it. And, no matter what…

Final Path report, I am blessed.
Went to my doctors visit to review the final path report. It was absolutly excellant. I originally declined a needle biopsy and requested they remove the entire lump for biopsy. The path report found no trace of cancer in the breast or node, all clear. It was .08 CM, very tiny, grade 1. ER+. No chemo, no Rad, and will see…

Life's Obstacles While Fighting Cancer
Where to begin? In December of 08 I was diagnosed with stage 2/3 HER2 positive breast cancer. Since then, I have completed twelve months of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation. But wait… there’s more! Since my diagnosis I have been abandoned by my husband of nineteen years, lost my home in Florida, moved cross country with…

I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer in mid-December. I had no idea that this site existed! It would have been so helpful because I was in treatment before I realized what was happening!!! Surprise News
I went to my Radiation Oncologist on Monday for my first 6 month follow up, and asked her exactly what did the scores on the Oncotype DX test show for me? I have asked other doctors and always seemed to get a runaround type of answer. She told me my score at 34 meant I had a reoccurrance rate of 51%. That's why they…

time between lumpectomy and chemo
My chemo start date has been canceled twice. First time I had a toothache and had to have that taken care of. This time my 5 year old son came down with strep throat and the Doc wants to wait a week. My lumpectomy was on Feb 5th. I am wondering if there is a time frame when you must start chemo for it to be effective.
