Beware: Chemo and sun sensitivity
Something to think about for those doing chemo: I took some walks, completely covered in clothing except for my hands and, apparently, a bit of my neck. Now I have a devilishly itchy, poison ivy-like rash on my hands and back of neck, keeping me awake at night. I suppose this could have been dangerous if my face or more of…

8 weeks since mastectomy and I still have my drainage port.
I had a bilateral mastectomy 8 weeks ago and I still have one of my drainage tubes. I'm draining 80 cc's a day of clear yellow fluid. My surgeon says that I am just a slow healer because of my diabetes and he wants to leave it in to avoid any possible conplications. There is no sign of any infection and I'm actually…

Arimidex - Side Effects
I have been on Arimidex for about a year now. In only the last week or so, I have started having swollen ankles, pain in the joints of my fingers and stiffness in my feet and legs. Could this be side effects of Arimidex? If so, why after almost a year? I will call my ONC on Monday but as usual these questions come up on…

Cruise anyone?
Who would be interested on going on a cruise with CSN members and their families? I would be willing to call and work with Disney or Carnival to see what they could do for us. I would love to meet everyone that has touched my heart and soul on CSN. We would have to include Greta since she is a part of us. What year and…

DONE WITH RADS
Yesterday was my last radiation treatment....28 + 5 boosters. Luckily, I did not burn bad, just a mild sunburn type area above my breast. So, why don't I feel excited and happy ? Guess after 9 months of treatments of some sort, chemo, surgery, radiation, I just feel like I'm not doing anything to keep it from coming back.…

Breast reconstruction
Hi, I'm new to this site. I was found to have breast cancer 4 weeks ago. I had a Lumpectomy and a lymph node taken out. The Lymph nodes were fine, but found out the cancer is in my ducts. Now I am going to have a mastectomy. They talked to me about reconstruction after the mastectomy, but don't know if I am going to. I…

Tamoxifen and depression
I started on Tamoxifen a week ago...so far I haven't had any hot flashes but I am really "down". I truely don't know why...my mastectomy was in mid Dec. and overall I am healing well. I didn't have reconstruction ...don't know if the "lopsidedness" of my body has to do with it or whether the tamoxifen could be a factor.…

Excessive Drainage
I had a mastectomy on my left side six weeks ago. They removed one of the drainage tubes after two weeks. The other one is still draining and has actually increased in output. I'm seeing my doctor weekly and he says that it is not infected and that I am just a slow healer. I'm wondering if this is really unusual and if…

fitting in at work
Does anyone feel like you don't fit in at work anymore? While I have lots of friendly people around me, I feel like no one is really a friend. Is it just me, my meds, or could it be true? Has this experience changed me to that extent?

An Easter HAHA! If you are blonde - Please take no offense! LOL
Three blondes died in a car crash trying to jump the Grand Canyon and are at the pearly gates of heaven. St Peter tells them that they can enter the gates only if they can answer one simple religious question. The question posed by St. Peter is "What is Easter"? The first blonde replies, "Oh, that's easy! It's the holiday…

Kids and hair
Jake told me the other day that I need a hair cut like I had last Easter---I was bald. He wants to use his washable markers again to draw Easter Eggs on my head again. I told him that once was enough for me and that since God gave me my hair back I didn't want to shave it off again. He accepted it. Margo

Hi had 1mm and 3mm invasive cancer - originally they thought it was only dcis, but my results came back ER+ and HER2+ (3) which is the highest so my oncologist wants me to do herceptin for a year (once every 3 weeks), but radiation before that. I met with another oncologist for an opinion and he wants chemo with herceptin,…

Reconstruction after masatectomy & MRSA infection
I had a mastectomy 1 1/2 yrs ago, with immediate reconstruction, and a reduction of the other breast. Unfortunately, I developed a MRSA infection in the reconstructed breast, and after months of antibiotic treatment and additional surgeries, the implant was removed. I am now thinking of having reconstruction done, but am…

Nipples or tattoos?
I have had the gel implants put in and love them! My PS did a great job! Now need to decide whether to tattoo or reconstruct nipples then tattoo. If I reconstruct, it will take care of a couple of little imperfections from the reconstruction. I worry, though, about having constant "headlights." I have been told that after…

Double mastectomy scheduled for 3/16.
I am new to all of this, still in a blur. I have been able to hold it together. I'm not sure if I have accepted it, or am still in denial. I am thinking I may not do so well the night before, or the day of surgery. What should I expect when I wake from surgery?
