Head scarves
I'll be starting chemo tomorrow. I've been checking some websites for some cute head scarves. I was hoping to get some that are a little a long in the back and you can tie them to look like a "ponytail". I found some that are already sewn in that form but are fairly expensive. Anyone know where you can get some resonably priced headscarves? Thanks . .

Beautiful free headwrap or scarf from Good Wishes
Fabu,
Be sure to request your free Good Wishes headwrap or scarf from France Luxe. The company sells very high-end, imported Italian silk items, and their Good Wishes program will send one free silk headwrap or scarf to any woman undergoing treatment.
You just send an email to their CEO, Laurie, and get to pick out any one you want! Mimi on this board was the one to tell us all about this program last year, and many of us on have requested and received ours -- they come in bright, fabulous colors and prints.

Traci
Traci,
Thanks for the information. I was actually looking at that website but thought the scarves, although beautiful, were not in my budget. I will definetely look into Good Wishes.
Thanks again,

Head Scarves
Try looking for head rags on motor cycle web sites, or Harley shops. After I no longer needed the do rag I found what I was looking for on these sites.0 -

Fabu, here is another option for head covers. It is a site called "Heavenly Hats" at www.heavenlyhats.com that's mission is to freely give hats to cancer patients. It is a wonderful organization that I and others on this site have used.

I got several from www.headcovers.com. Not as expensive as some other sites, and you can get some that look a little more stylish and not so much old ladyish. My favorite is the Naomi Scarf - elastacized in the back, but still has ties to look like a scarf. And you can register - like you'd register somewhere for a wedding shower etc - so friends and family can get on there if they want to get you a gift. Pretty neat.
Also been buying colorful bandanas here and there - cheap, easy, throw them in the wash with no worries. You can get some really fun ones - tye died, etc. I recommend 21x21" or larger. I got one that was 17x17 and it felt a little on the naked side.0 -

Thank you, thank you!! I am so glad I found these boards. Y'all are a wealth of information.
I will look into all your suggestions--trust me.
Now . . on to chemo this morning. Will this party never end? LOL
Bless you all.0 -

What do people do when they are done with them? I feel kind of supersticious(sp) getting rid of them. but would like to give them to someone who needs them.0 -

How cute!kiki3 said:Check out etsy.com The Hat
Check out etsy.com The Hat Cottage has some fun fun fabrics, and they are only $15. Came super quick, and super cute. If you search chemo hat they will come up.
Wow, Kiki, that site is a keeper -- SUCH cute prints! I wish I'd known about it when I was doing chemo -- I may just have to buy a few anyway.

I just went to the fabric
I just went to the fabric store and bought a bunch of fabric. I got some pretty blue ones and I got the pink ribbon fabric, too. I bought cotton so it wouldn't slip off of my head.
Just cut the fabric to size and you have a scarf. If you don't sew, just use pinking shears to cut the fabric.
I got this idea from a fellow cancer patient while we were both waiting to get our CT scans.
Good luck!0 -

shopping
I went to Target and bought 4 hats, headbands and 3 scarves yesterday after my 2nd chemo treatment. Had a blast last night experimenting with headbands and hats and tying scarves. Always envied the bohemian look - pulled out some beads and big earrings and I look pretty awesome ! Not diggin the wig, so I am glad scarves look OK. Our local hospital has a section of wigs and scarves and turbans donated by people for the American Cancer Society and they are FREE!0
