Question for those of you on avastin
I just started avastin every 21 days (400ml). (I will also do 75ml/m2 taxotere and AUC5carbo.) I am curious what dosage others are getting of avastin. I know a couple of you are on avastin maintainance too, so I am curious about how that is working also. My doctor has purposely given me time between my avastin and chemo to…

Hello All, My mom is finally out of the hospital after a repeat visitfor difficulty in breathing with fluid in her lungs and abd. Well one internal medicine doc had asked me if I had thought about hospice. Naturally I had broke down, I'm not ready to give up on my mom. Another had also asked my mom when she had to go back…

slapped in the face
I know none of you know my husband or the kind of man he is. Let me tell you he is deeply caring, has been a rock, and taken very good care of me. Which may be hard for some of you to believe when I tell you how he stuck his foot in his mouth yesterday. I am newly diagnosed with Stage 1a, tumor grade 3. Very aggressive and…

excessive eye tearing on taxotere
I'm about to lose my ever loving mind with the eye tearing. Has anyone else had this side effect on taxotere? My eyes are like a fountain all day long. I wake up with them crusted shut from tearing all night long. Is this going to go away now that I am done with chemo? Is there anything I can do about it in the meantime?

new abdominal and back pain... what the....
I was diagnosed with stage 4 OC in May of 2010. My CA 125 was somewhere in the 4000 range. I had 7 rounds of carbo/taxol and a complete hyst. and spleenectomy, followed by more chemo. Finally got my numbers down to about 103 and took a much needed holiday. My numbers began going up as soon as I stopped chemo. I started…

Report on Benefit for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Event
That I was lucky enough to be able to attend today in Syracuse, N.Y. When I was invited to attend, I had no idea that it was going to be such a huge event. There were 250 guests, a fashion show, local TV personalities and politicans and some very interesting speakers. Jon Zeidman, Director of Development of the Ovarian…

On my last post I told you about a fistula I developed. Was told they could not operate and tried to put a bag (not sure what you call it)on it because it was draining quite a bit I might add, they had no luck it kept leaking. Then a cathada was put in for TPN feedings that only lasted a day, my small bowel protruded right…

Has anyone had to wear compression stockings due to edema with your cancer
I recently was told by my dr. that I needed to wear thigh high compression stockings. Not sure what is the best type. Has anyone had to buy them and wear them and if so, what name did you purchase & how did they work. Thanks.

What's in your personal chemo kits?
I know this is sort of a silly question compared to most I've seen on here, but I just have to ask it. (Plus, silly things keep me from focusing on the depressing ones.) You see, I--like many others--have my own little chemo bag I bring to my treatments. I bring quite a bit of stuff with me. But I feel like there is…

Chemo Side Effects - Excess Saliva
Hello everyone. I am currently going through my fourth round of BEP (Bleomycin, Etoposide, and Cisplatin) to treat an ovarian dsygerminoma. For the last three weeks I have been struggling with excess saliva. I am constantly spitting. I've tried claritin, benadryl, and even Zantac with no relief - at the suggestions of…

Freezing to death
at age 56 I had been used to sweating for no good reason and despising the hot humid summers. Since my hysterectomy and diagnosis of cancer, I have been freezing. I expected the opposite, for the sweats to be worse, but no, no more sweats. In fact here in my city is is sunny and 73, which is perfect for most people, I have…

heard bad news today been very upset
Saw my pcp today and told him how I've been feeling all weekend, ankles swollen, and can actually feel tumor middle of my chest. Asked him if it was ascites, he said no. He was quite sad when he told me the cancer has worsened since I've been on the Hexalen pill (January). He said that what I'm feeling in my chest is most…

Started Topotecan and talked to doctor about progression today.
Well I am back from the doctor and it wasn't all bad. 1) I asked why I couldn't have the surgery to take it out and the doctor was very blunt with me. She said when they do a liver resection, that it is a very rough surgery and with my lungs the way they are, I would not be a good candidate. I totally agree. 2) I asked why…

What can you tell me??
I am not on this site everyday but I do recognize many of the beautiful faces and beautiful words. I just read about Rooker Bird, who has just recently passed away. She opted not to share her last weeks with everyone on this website by writing in the discussion boards. I write a blog to my family and closest friends and I…

New to cancer and treatment-Help Me?
I had my first chemo treatment on March 23rd. I had my surgery on February 29th, of course a huge surgery as you know, so took some time for the pain to subside of course, but it did for the most part. Since the surgery I have a new pain in my right upper quadrant, there was a ct done and it shows my liver is enlarged and…

I believe in miracles
I have a dear friend that I had lost contact with because between work and not feeling well (I did not know at the time I had cancer)she heard that I had cancer and asked another friend for my number. She called and said she wanted to help me in anyway if she could because she know the fear I am facing because she had lung…

Night Sweats - Menopause or Something Else?
I had not gone through menopause when diagnosed, so my menopause was surgically induced in September 2009 with my hysterectomy/debulking. I had an easy time of it...mild hot flashes, no extreme mood swings. A few months ago, I began having really heavy night sweats. If it could be a hot flash that would wake me up, I could…

Rooker Bird is gone
I was hoping someone else would post this, but I guess I get to be the bearer of bad news, yet again. Rooker Bird (Kathy Salvie) passed away last Tuesday. About 6 months ago, Kathy had her son drive her the 25 or so miles from her house to mine. She wanted to meet me, and give me some things for my local support group. She…

Ground turkey
Hi ladies. Do any of you use ground turkey rather than ground beef? There are mixed reviews out there as to which is better. When I use ground beef, it is very lean. My sister and her husband purchased 1/4 of local butchered beef last fall. I mostly eat chicken or fish, but sometimes I have to have a change. I just told my…

neuropathy and B-12
Has anyone had injections of B-12 to help with neuropathy? My mom is having a rough time getting up from a chair and walking. She is now using a walker and is afraid to even go out and check her mail. She has one more treatment left this month of 6 rounds of carbo/taxol. This is due to a reoccurance. She didn't seem to…

Daily Low Dose Aspirin
"Taking a low dose of aspirin every day can prevent and possibly even treat cancer, fresh evidence suggests." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17443454 I'm going to start. The risks associated with low doses (baby aspirin is 80 mg) are almost negligible. Not sure which doc I'll discuss this with, probably both my family…
