Tattoo
I have been a little MIA on the site lately sorry about that. There are so many new "faces". Sorry we all had to meet this way. But I wanted to let you know that I finally got my teal ribbon tattoo! It is on the back of my neck where people can see it. The end is shaped like a feather. I will have to post a pic. My cousin…

makeup
I usually don't feel like messing with it, but today I am having a really good day, so I put some makeup on. Ummmm, I look like a weird doll. So I re applied, and again, uhhh no. I think the problem is since I have no eyelashes left, I have no lash line to follow with the eye liner. And getting the blush or the cheek color…

Dealing with the unknown
I sent an email to my gyn/onc/surgeon today. At my checkup in November I expressed alarm that my count had gone from 3 to 5 and he said anything under 10 was okay. He further stated that even if it went into double digits he would not be too concerned. I wanted to know his thoughts behind that statement since my count is…

Has anyone been consuming black raspberries (not blackberries) on a regular basis as part of her ant
The studies on these berries seemed intriguing so I looked for them in stores and found them unavailable even in NYC where I live. I order them from FrankFarms.com, freeze them in 1 cup portions and add them to my smoothie every morning. I have no idea if they are helping but I am NED from stage 4B UPSC for almost 15…

They just keep saying keep doing what you are doing..... but I was afraid of a bowel blockage. Think I'm ok now, but was just wondering.

Breakouts on my head.
So, I started losing my hair a while ago. It's not completely gone but definitely thinned out dramatically particularly towards the front of my head. I ended up getting it shaved. The lady at the salon used the second to shortest setting. I had maybe 1 or 2 pimples on my scalp when I had it shaved, but now there are a ton…

Avaistan and Nose Issues
I have had nose bleeds, runny nose, and extreme pain in my nose due to the avaistan. A friend of mine said she had similar problems while on Avaistan. She said she began coating the inside of her nose every night with Vaseline. (using a Q Tip). I have been doing this the past few nights, and guess what? Very little and…

It's pink again!
A dear friend of mine was at a local festival and there was a firetruck painted pink in honor of breast cancer. She went ahead and wrote a message for me on it anyway. I guess we'll have to paint our own firetruck, ladies. Karen

Soaps & detergents
I read in Chris Bledy's book (12 yr survivor of 3c), that she would only use soaps and detergents that had ingredients in them she recognized as not harmful. This is due to chemicals being absorbed through pores that could hurt the body. However she did not say what she used. Wondering if anyone had suggestions. Thanks…

Metal taste
I know that the metal taste in the mouth is one of the side effects of Chemo but... (this is hard to explain) sometimes my stomach gets very acidy and sour and almost like a metal feeling. Is that weird? Do you go to the chat room on this site. It feels so good just knowing there are people out there that understand. I…

Mom's Update
Hello All, We got my mom's patho report and her treatment plan. Her cancer involved the right ovary and fallopian tube and the omentum. It is poorly differentiated papillary serous carcinoma. The good news (if there is any is that) it's stage 3 instead of stage 4, which we were told prior to the patho report. It has not…

CT results
I am not a nurse but I have been a medical assistant for 25 years. I have given patient results and know a little bit about terminology of reports and so forth. I asked for a copy of my first CT, that was done before first chemo. They said "No obvious tumor" which is good. But a concern is it also said "shotty nodes in the…

Cancer sucks rotten eggs!
I am so angry I can't see straight. My sister may have OVC or some sort of cancer. She is in shock. OK I get that, but she is not moving. She has no health insurance, so I found one. There is no GYN Oncologist so I have been looking all over the state for the closest one to her. She is focused on the side effects of her…

Hair watch 2012
I'm 3 weeks out from my final chemo treatment and I am anxiously awaiting the first sprout of hair. Every morning, I very carefully examine my head, legs, and pits for any sign of hair. I figure my leg hairs will come back first as my legs were the last hold out when my hair fell out. How long did you take for hair to grow…

On Avastin
So, I've had two treatments now with Avastin, 15 mg. (per kilogram of body weight) every three weeks. Haven't had any side effects, except my body is a little achy (knees, hips, shoulders). Sometimes it's difficult to pull a shirt over my head. However, my onc. said that was due more to the effects of Taxol (my treatments…

So much admiration
I just wanted to take a minute to let you all know what an inspiration you are to me. I would probably lay down and just cry all the time, but y'all seem to handle it all with such grace…
