One More Doxil Question
I'm just curious... If you achieved NED on Doxil, how long was your NED? I have very few symptoms after starting Doxil and my pleural effusion has cleared up, and remained clear.

Happy Holidays-- small update :)
I had my third appointment for my recurrence. My third round of Doxil is Friday. Just minor mouth sores, that's it. My CA-125 "ticked up" a bit. I "look" good according to the doctor. My pleural effusion is finally GONE (like completely gone), he could not find my largest tumor, and no more fluid near my liver (that he…

Nivolumab(Opdivo) for ovarian cancer
Has anyone gotten into a trial or used this drug off label for ovarian cancer? My mom has stage iv ovarian cancer and we are thinking to try this immunotheraphy drug for her. It is FDA approved for a few other cancers and I know it's in trials for ovarian and other cancers. Just seeing if anyone has tried it or known…

Needing your opinions, please?
I'm new to this forum and have already gained a wealth of knowledge regarding my situation. I'm 57 years old and had a hysterectomy 30 years ago, but still have my ovaries. In the last few months I've experienced cramp-like symptoms in my right ovary that extends across my pelvic area. In the beginning I thought it was…

when is OVCA actually diagnosed? how often should CA125 be done?
Hello everyone, I don't know if I have a right to post here as I don't have an official diagnosis of ovarian cancer. That is actually one of my questions - since it cannot be diagnosed until surgery as biopsy is not recommended, is that the only time I will get a diagnosis of OVCA or do people get one sooner? I am 39 and…

Hormones
Hello! I am 34 years old. I am an ovarian cancer survivor of almost 12 years now (yay!). I was diagnosed at age 24 with stage 3c. I had a total hysterectomy and did chemo for a year. I am so happy to be cancer free and alive, but my health and mood struggle every day. I went in to menopause quickly and I have no hormones…

Cancer Pain question...
I am currently using Doxil for a recurrence. The first round about two weeks after that round, I felt better-- the heaviness in my chest was gone, the pain in my back. I had my second round about a week ago, and all my cancer symptoms I was complaining about before I started Doxil are back (except the chest heaviness-- my…

update: surgery scheduled
so I met with the gyno-oncologist yesterday and somehow really, truly expected she'd say this was all a false alarm and nothing is likely wrong. I thought she'd offer preventative, elective BSO as I'm BRCA+ and we'd talk about doing it sometime in spring maybe or after I turn 40. Instead, she said she's really concerned…

too long until we can see a specialist - ovarian CA?
My wife and I are in limbo right now, so I thought I would turn to people instead of Dr. Google. My wife tried invitro in 2006 and ended up losing her left ovary due to a "nick" during retrieval that caused a hemorraghic cyst that cut off the blood supply. She hasn't had normal menstral cycles since. Over the past 6 months…

Mother just diagnosed stage 4

need help understanding MRI report
MY HISTORY I'm still waiting for diagnosis and see the gyn-oncologist on the 22nd but have elevated CA125 and a TVUS found a 2cm solid, vascular nodule on my right ovary. I have most of the symptoms of OC daily and am BRCA+. I'm 39 and premenopausal. As the US tech had suggested an MRI in the report, my family dr requested…

DIM INSTEAD OF EXEMESTANE?
Hi, Everyone: Hoping you can tell me if anyone is taking DIM instead of Aromasin? Getting tired of the myriad of side affects. Currently in year 2, 3 more to go, according to my oncologist. Considering taking DIM instead. I eat broccoli, do other things to limit any estrogen, as my BC was 100% estrogen receptive and only…

Update and question-- is it too soon?
Well, I got my BRCA study back and I am BRCA negative. I know that there is a small difference in outcomes between positive and negative results... I did my first round of Doxil two weeks ago. I have minimal side effects :) ... Anyway here's my question. I had a pleural effusion. It came back after my hysterectomy and…

what questions should I ask gyno-oncologist at 1st appointment?
So my first appointment with the gyno-oncologist has been scheduled following a suspicious mass found via TVUS on my right ovary and elevated CA125 blood test. I am also BRCA+. Both the CA125 and the TVUS will be repeated just before the appointment so we should know if things are changing at that time. I am trying to…

Ovarian Cancer~Questions I need 2 ask re my cancer diagnosis~Helpful "Homework" links~Put your Dr. o
In particular, Madeline236 wants to know what questions she should ask prior to being seen by a gynecological oncologist. http://csn.cancer.org/node/306176 Since I have spoken to her on a separate posting, I think it would be beneficial if every one of us knew what questions to ask when we are seeing a doctor and we…

Cancer stem cell theory
Seems like no one talks about cancer stem cells on this board (not that I have seen)--maybe because the concept is only a theory or maybe because no one is offered the cancer stem cell treatment. Anyway, if you do some research on ovarian cancer and cancer stem cells (just Google it), it looks like there are two pathways…

Getting us all on the same page....
It's hard to keep everyone's info straight sometimes, so I thought it might be helpful to start a thread where we all share our "numbers". When were you diagnosed? (Sept, 2009) What stage? (IIIc) Are you the patient, or a caregiver: (patient) OVCA, clear cell, or PPC? (OVCA) What was your highest CA125? (4000) What was…

Information Sharing
Hi, if anyone has new information about new treatments I would like for you to share. I watched a show a few weeks ago about an IBM computer called Watson being used at some hospitals to help oncologist pick the best treatment for cancer patients. The show said Watson was correct more times than the oncologist because it…

First Doxil Dose Yesterday
My first Doxil dose was yesterday. There was one minor hiccup. I had a "reaction" to the steroids. I think it might have been the sensation from the power port they installed on Wednesday. I got flushed, my blood pressure was high, and I felt like my heart was rushing. I did end up finishing the dose, though they added…

Scared - Bad luck
So I had low grade stage 1A endometrial cancer and everything was removed except for one ovary. I was 40 and opted to leave one behind.
