Questions about CA 125 vs. C ATSCAN
Hi, I hope you can help me with this question. I've been on several different chemos and now I am on cytoxan and avastin. My numbers went up from 39 to 63 but, my catscan showed everything was stable. My dr. told me not to worry - as CA 125 is not that reliable. Has anyone gone through this. I feel great, just tired.…

single agent carbo side effects?
My 79-year old mother's recent PT showed lesions in her chest wall, so the treatment plan has changed to single agent carbo given once every three weeks via port infusion. Mom was given a Gemzar option but declined based on quality of life issues. Without the taxol, I'm thinking that the side effects might not be so bad…

Avastin - new data
I am wondering if anyone on Avastin currently had any change in their regimen due to the newly released information. For anyone who doesn't know: WASHINGTON — U.S. government health advisers say unanimously that a follow-up study of the Roche drug Avastin failed to show meaningful benefits for breast cancer patients. A…

In addition,…

God's Perspective
One of our "older and seasoned" ladies of my Thursday Bible study sent this to me and I wanted to share it with each of you. The Power for Living today had a heart touching story of the worship pastor, Lyndon Plett, whose mother was murdered when he was only five. His father & step mother were killed in an accident when he…

Funny t shirts
chemochick.com has some cute Tshirts. "I'm too sexy for my hair", "I'm having a no hair day" Breast cancer has cool shirts like "save the ta tas". I saw one for ovarian that says "ovaries are for losers" HA! I don't like that at all. Gotta come up with a better slogan.

Surgery went well
I had my debulking surgery on 6/21/10 and it went well. My surgeon said he removed 95% of the cancer. I had a complete hysterectomy with omentum and apendix also removed. I have been home for three weeks. I did not expect to be in such pain for so long. I had a caesarian in 1980 and gall bladder removed in 1990 and feel I…

Out of breath when I walk
Anybody else experience this? Ever since I started Taxotere/Avastin I am so out of breath. My oncologist ordered a lot of cardiac test and it's not my heart. It seems that even when I just get up and walk a little distance I get out of breath. Although when I go swimming it doesn't seem to affect me. What gives? I will…

Choosing NOT to treat
I decided decades ago, after watching several generations of women die of cancer, that I would not be treated when (not if) I developed cancer. That decision has never wavered; what I've seen since has made me more determined and content with my choice. So here I am. But it turns out that doctors don't particularly…

Anyone on Doxil?
I just came across this.....a study that indicates Prozac taken in conjunction with Doxil can boost the effectiveness of the chemo drug. Since the doctors often push antidepressants on us anyway, why not ask for Prozac if you are prescribed Doxil treatment?…
