Round III
My wife received the discouraging news that after 3 months of very slowly rising CA-125 counts on the heels of 1.5 years of remission, they found a mass in her lower pelvis area (5 X 8cm). Scheduled for consultation next Wednesday where they've hinted we'll be counseled on chemo options. Linda has already done…

lump biopsy
I recently underwent a biopsy for a lump on my neck the size of a walnut. It just showed up over night, but is in the approximate location of a "hot spot" that showed up on my last CT. we did a biopsy which came back clean: all tissue looked necrotic; dead. we are assuming it is/was a lymph node that got taken out with the…

PPC and Recurrence
I have been wondering if any of our teal warriors have had a recurrence of PPC... If so, what has the line of treatment been? Thankfully, I have been in remission since finishing my chemo in December, but I can't help but think about it returning in the future. It seems like with ovarian cancer, it can be managed with…

Cancer versus Carcinoma
Ok ladies...dumb question time. Is there a difference between "cancer" and "carcinoma" ? My pathology report states "Stage 1A Grade 2 Clear Cell Carcinoma". I realize Stage 1A is what we all hope for and it's not a question about that.....I just always wondered if there's some significance to "carcinoma" versus "cancer".

What I found Funny
Just spent 2 weeks in Southern Calif in my hometown. I ran into an elderly woman who had been my Sunday School Teacher. She is now 80 and could not place me until my mom reminded her who I was. She apologized and then said "Don't ever grow old, your memory and everything else goes". After I left, I laughed till I cried.…

Hey everyone! On January 17, 2011 I will be a 5 year survivor! It took me 4 years after going through OC to realize that I wanted to help bring awareness to this dreadful disease. I am as of now in the midst of working on a personal website called Hope Heals as well as joined the Pepsi Refresh Project last month. My idea…

anyone's CA125 flatten out on weekly taxol?
My CA125 only dropped 1/2 point this past week, according to this morning's pre-chemo labs. The last time I took weekly taxol, my CA125 flattened out after 6 rounds in the mid-40's and stayed there for 4 more rounds, and yet I got a clear CT/PET after 10 rounds of the weekly taxol and I took a 4 month chemo break. But…

Just needed to talk about this to people who understand. Maybe I am completely off the wall and imagining it but my stomach is bloated. I used to get IBS way before I was diagnosed with cancer. Recently I have changed my diet as I am trying to lose weight and I am having IBS symptoms (well I think it is that) At the end of…

update: chemo options/clincial trial
I met with a senior gyn oncologist on Friday. I can't remember everything he said but I left his office feeling good. Not as worried as I have been recently. He said I shouldn't be too concerned about going into remission. He seemed as if going into remission was no big deal. I didn't think to ask if he was acting that way…

PPC & Diet
Hey, anybody have any recommendations for nutritional changes that support staying healthy after PPC diagnosis? Just came across somebody who recommended coenzyme, bovine cartilage and wheat grass. Doesn't sound good, but wondering if anyone has done this or something else to hopefully stave off recurrence? thanks McE

Good News!
After experiencing come cramping and pain on my left side, my oncologist ordered a CT scan...thankfully, there were no signs of cancer! In addition, my CA125 has been holding between 13-15 since February. The anxiety I experienced while waiting for my results was crazy... it just shouldn't have to be this way. It has been…

I know just how this guy feels...
In whatever kind of a “race” life may be, I have very abruptly become a finalist. That's from a Christopher Hitchens essay about his Cancer diagnosis. Hitchens goes on to say: The oncology bargain is that, in return for at least the chance of a few more useful years, you agree to submit to chemotherapy and then, if you are…

CA125
I was diagnosed a year ago this May with stage 3 ovarian cancer. I have been reading many posts on the discussion board and see that many have had original ca125 at 1000 and way above. Mine was at 111 before surgery and then down to 7.2 and I have been holding at 5.2. pet/negative and I feel great. Has anyone else ever had…
