Any suggestions for aches and pains?
I had my last chemo on 9/15/2010. I feel great but am experiencing the aches and pains I know so many of you are. They seem to be getting worse. I take Tylenol when I go to bed but wake up a lot during the night because I have to change positions in order to alleviate the pain. I even dream about the pain if it doesn't…

The problem with CT scans
Has anyone considered that the recurrence rate of ovarian cancer might possibly be related to how the condition is followed by doing frequent CT scans? I read somewhere that (in Germany) once a woman has had breast cancer, she NEVER gets another mammogram. I think she gets an MRI or ultrasound but not ionizing radiation to…

Nutrition vs. Cancer
Here is some food for thought. My brother told he me he has listened to this on late night talk radio on how cancer cannot live in a body with a high alkaline level. Back home from my break
Hi Loves, When last I posted I had literally cried on my ONC's shoulder and told him that I needed a break! I have been chemoing for 13 months for my 1st recurrance and I had HAD ENOUGH! He put me on prozac :) and gave me a month off. I return to my carbo/gemzar next week. This time off has done me a world of good. I went…

Weight!
I still can't figure out why I am not a size 4 with all that I'm going through! I initially lost about 15 pounds, but it has managed to creep up. Is it really crazy to think of joining Weight Watchers while on chemo? I can't imagine that I ever will be thin from cancer. I suppose I should be grateful I'm not a sack of…

Cisplatin
I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer stage III in 2008 and at this point am considered "stable". My doctor has changed my chemo several times, due to some side effects or he felt it wasn't doing the job he felt it should. He now mentioned the use of cisplatin and am wondering if anyone has used it and what if any were the…

How much water during chemo?
I am on carbo/gem and had a problem last month with dehydration. I was told today I should be drinking 96 ounces of liquid. Is this correct? It seems like a lot. In the past, I have had to go in for extra bags of hydration. Thanks, Froggy

Response to Nancy591 re: Hives and Fragmin
I haven't been able to give myself the injection, I'm just really a chicken, so a member of my family gives it to me. We give it in the abdomen, but I do black and blue quite a bit, I guess mostly because I've been on blood thinners for well over a year now. I've even had to start using different areas for the injection. I…

Way to go Platelets!
My platelets were down as low as 20(10 is transfusion) and a week after that they are at 405! So, I was able to get chemo today. They reduced the dosage a little to see if I wouldn't tank so much. 'Will be interesting. But, it's good news that I rebounded so quickly. Thanks for all the good wishes. Ginny

Dear Nancy591 How are you doing on Fragmin
Hi Nancy, read your postings and was wondering how you were doing. How are you doing on the fragmin. He said he might change me to Lovenox, but that's still the same thing, injections in your stomach…

discouraged
After four rounds of carbo/doxil, which didn't work, my Doc switched me to carbo/gemzar(first week carbo/gem., second gem, week off, then start again) I had labs drawn on Friday and my platelet count was 43. They wanted me to go in this week-end for an emergency draw and today my counts were 20, not enough to get a…

2 questions
I was very ill when diagnosed and took a leave of absence from work. Now that I am feeling better I plan to go back. However, I am used to taking a "couch day" when needed and I am a little leary of returning to work. Does everyone else work while on chemo? I have 3 months of weekly Taxol and monthly Carbo to go. My other…

So yesterday she tells me that she has not had an appetite for…

I will still see him every 6 months for 5 years, have a blood draw every 3 months, and scan every 6 months. Oh, and a breast MRI every 6 months.…

PPC vs OC w/ carcinomatosis
Tina and anyone else interested I was diagnosed w/ seropapillary w/ carcinomatosis at the end of August, 2010. I was not diagnosed with PPC because the pathology report found cancer in both ovaries.
