blood clots
Last year I developed a small blood clot during my oc surgery. For 1 year I was on Coumadin. Has anyone received chemotherapy and been on coumadin? I understand that blood clots usually dissolve within 6 months and would eventually like to get off of a blood thinner. If anyone has had any experience with this please let me…

just wanted to share - right on the clock.... two weeks after my first carbo/taxol treatment my hair started to fall out, it was annoying and depressing. Tonight my husband shaved my hair. Have to say i feel kind of relieved, liberated. #1 - it does not look that horrible. I have tried my Wig and hats, scarves - not bad at…

ABT Parp Inhibitator
I know there was a clinical trial involving Doxil and the ABT Parp Inhibitator. Has anyone been able to get on this trial and receive the Parp Inhibitator and not Doxil. Everything that I've been reading on this site indicates people were given Doxil first. If anyone received the Parp Inhibitator, how is it working?

Bad Day
It is Sunday. I got my mail from Saturday and my daughter was in the car with me. The letter from Advance Radiology came with the results from Mamograghy: "Need further evaluation..." I kept cool, don't want to alarm my daughter. I have a doc appointment this coming Friday and hoping it is just a form letter all cancer…

Today is my birthday.
Today is my first birthday since my diagnosis on March 16, 2010. I decided to throw myself a party. So last week I made the guest list and planned the menu. The next day I decided not to have a party because it would be a lot of work. A few days later I decided I wanted the party (no ladies it's not the chemo, it's just…

I am fighting my first recurrence and 'am now a carbo/doxil flunkee. The Doc is switching midstream to carbo/gemzar. I get the full dose the first week, then just gemzar the second week. I got "the sheet," that tells you all the things that can go wrong. Can anybody share their experience with this drug? I did well on…

Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer at 25
I am new to this site and I am glad I have found a place to turn to. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer at 25. I am cancer free now for almost 2 years. I had both ovaries removed but I still have my uterus. Finding out I can never have biological children of my own was the most devestating thing. Everyone around…

Started Avastin today; picking up Cytoxin in pill form tomorrow to add to my regime. Got my CT/PET
Got my results today from last week's CT/PET. That 550 point rise in CA125 these past 2 months I was on carboplatin was from significant disease progression in my liver. Mets there now involve 35% of my liver, but my oncologist said you can have normal liver function even with 90% involvement. Otherwise the scan showed…

Treatment of Avastin and Cytoxan
I've been reading alot of posts here where more and more ladies seem to be going on Avastin/cytoxan. Has anyone gone through the whole regimen of Avastin/Cytoxan. What was the outcome of it? I've also read where after the Avastin/Cytoxan, people could go on Avastin maintenance and was wondering how that worked out. Thanks.

yep, always something
Was sooooo close to the completion of chemo, today was to be number 5 of 6. My white blood count (abs. neutrophils) were absolutely tanked! It amazes me how I could feel so good, eating well, wonderful walks, hiking and yoga and then boom, some blood work says you are really at high risk for an infection. The abs.…

Not well enough for treatment
I went for my 2nd chemo infusion this morning to be told by the oncologist that there is a problem with my kidneys and my treatment will be postponed for a few days until the results of my blood tests are back. Also she seems to think I'm not fully recovered from an infection I'd had whilst in hospital a couple of weeks…

Hi Ladies, I am wondering if any of you have problems with phlegm? If you have dealt with this please let me know what to do about it. This has been going on for months…

Just found another "sister"....a shockingly young one
My daughter just told me today that a young woman she went to school with has OVCA. I have friended her on FaceBook, and will try and get her to join us here. She can't be more than 36 or so. This reaffirms my decision to participate in the vaccine trial. It's sad and awful to lose your mom to this crappy disease, even as…

Time for some fun postings: What are your favorite Guilty Pleasures?
For me, it's Red Wine, Chocolate and paranormal romances. I love Pinot Noir or Shiraz (tend to prefer the New Zealand Pinot and Australian Shiraz) and Hazelnut Chocolate bars from Lindt! YUMMMM! as for the romance novels... Charlaine Harris, Christine Feehan, and the Arcane Society series from Amanda Quick, Jayne Castle…

new weird type of pain
I don't know what this is and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar. I'm hoping its adhesions or muscle. I've been having pain/discomfort around and above the area where my ostomy was. My ostomy was reversed 1 yr ago this month. The pain is worse when I go to stand up or sit down. Almost like a surgical…

I am officially a lab rat
My 10:45 appointment got underway right on schedule but by the time they did EKG, blood draw ( LOTS of blood), vitals, etc it was 2:00. It took a long time (over an hour) to get the vaccine compounded. I posted on Face Book that it had to be done by elves specially trained in alchemy. LOL My next injection is Feb 11, then…

Rise in ALT/AST during Avastin/Cytoxin treatment
I've been on 2 cycles so far of Avastin/cytoxin and my blood levels has been pretty good. I had blood taken at my primary care physician last week and the range with his lab for ALT was 7-52, mine came in at 56. He said it was still ok because it was only slightly over the top of the range. I noticed that the high and low…

student learning
My daughter is an RN student. She has to give an education lecture on any topic and choose a target audience. I told her she should do it on ovca awareness. She needs to list a specific number (I forget how many) of educational objectives for her target audience. I suggested her target audience be nursing students or…

treatment change
Spoke with the oncologist. My treatment will now be changed to Taxol/Avastin. Believe it or not this time around I am upset about losing my hair. I go next week for my first Taxol infusion. Since it is almost 2years since I've last had Taxol I am hoping it will work well for me again.

GI Symptoms Scaring Me
I've been having GI symptoms since New Years Eve. I hardly slept that night, and started having pure liquid BM's in the early morning. Stayed in all day and felt fine the next day, even went to a pot luck and ate whatever I wanted. I felt pretty good for about a week, then started to have diarrhea, and had a repeat…

Newbie--advice
Hi Ladies, I have been lurking around here for awhile and just couldn't get myself to post, as it is made it seem more real. I have seen all of the support you provide one another and feel I certainly could benefit (by both being supported and supporting). My mom (age 73) was diagnosed in March/April 2009 with Stage 2C…
