Update: All clear!! Well, now I get my very own scanxiety. Sigh :(
Well, I've got to go for a second mammogram. Nice. Just needed to vent where I knew I could get support. You guys get it and know how it feels. I guess they want better angles due to some assymetry. Evidently I'm very "dense" which happens in younger women. Yep, lol! I'm not going to freak out yet. Quite frankly, kidney…

Residual tumor left in vena cava
I had surgery for Stage 3 RCC to remove my right kidney and tumor extending into my vena cava about 8 months ago. Post surgery they immediately did a CT scan and then another in January. In April I had an MRI and it showed something that is 2cm still in my vena cava. It appears that it is residual that was left behind. I'm…

Big NEDs
This has been the month for Dr. appointments and tests. #1-last Oct. I had a questionable mammogram and had to return in Nov. for a mammo and US. They think it was a cyst, but had to go back early this month. No change, so return for a bi-lateral test in the fall. Breathe a sigh of relief, as I've had 2 biopsies in…

Benefits of being followed by a nephrologist vs. a urologist?
Hello everyone. This is my first day on the Forum and it has already helped me enormously. I learned about my 3.4' ish cm mass about two weeks ago, urologist pronounced it 99% likely to be cancer last week. I am now scheduled for surgery on June 25 (had to to get my life in order first). My urologist says he'll follow me…

More news from Djinnie! Good news!
Hello everyone! I was very excited to receive a really long and lovely email from Djinnie! She is now in a hospital on the coast of France. Djinnie spoke about it so eloquently, it would be silly for me to try and paraphrase it, so here is an exerpt from her email: "They are a unique hospital in every way, they work…

Chest X-Ray ?
Is it standard practice for surgeon to request for you to have chest X-rays before getting surgery? My husband seems to think its standard practice before any surgery as a way to check for pneumonia. I'm nervous that it's for Mets in lungs check. thanks

financial assistance for votrient?
It has been a long wait from my moms surgery for the report and now her 1st visit with her oncologist... Moms cancer has spread to more areas since her first diagnosis and the weeks leading up to and after her surgery. While she was in the hospital for her kidney surgery her cancer was never mentioned or aknowledged and…

Post nephrectomy blues
I've been thinking about this for quite awhile. I wonder if y'all can give some input. It seems that many people face their cancer diagnosis with fear, worry and then aggression. First, what a terrible diagnosis to be given. Then the worry and concern for their life and the impact on the family. Next is the I'll do…

Recovery time?
I was wondering what I should expect from recovery time for a laparoscopic partial renal nephrectomy? My husband will be with me the first day or two. Or should he plan on taking more time? I really want him to take more vacation time in summer when our whole family will be here for summer break. He has the time but he's…

News about our Djinnie
Hello dear friends, I have been communicating with Djinnie since she "signed off". Unfortunately, she is going downhill very fast. My heart is breaking for all that she has endured. She is in a lot of pain, the morphine isn't doing much at all. I am hoping they advocated for different meds for her. She has asked me to let…

Checking in and update
Hello all. I am sorry I have not posted much, however, I am reading posts as much as possible out here. Work is hectic and I find myself exhausted by end of day with no reserves for catching up on social media. I am well, and, aside from work exhaustion, my strength is returning. I am now about 6 months out of surgery and…

Lynch Syndrome
Hi all, Has anyone here had genetic testing for Lynch Syndrome? Its basically a test for colon cancer, but it can predispose you to other cancers also, so sometimes the genetic counselors recommend it to other cancer dx as well. I had breast cancer and kidney cancer and so was advised to get this test, but don't know how I…

FB Communication?
Was wondering what the thought was out there of starting a FB page for our group? I find that I do not log in here as much as I would like as it is a bit cumbersome and I get lost following the threads sometimes. I think a good percentage of people are on FB every day. Your feedback is appreciated!

WOW Did Not Expect This! :(
Hi Everyone, I went back yesterday for my two week post-op check. I have to say this round has been a little easier recovery as far as the incision is concerned. My gfr improved a tiny bit up from 39 to 43. I was then told that the tumor was not able to be classified! They are getting my slides from three years ago at…

Back home from a partial nephrectomy
Just need a place to vent...I'm a lucky one, because they took out the kidney cancer yesterday through a partial nephrectomy, and I don't need chemo. I look at my 15 month old daughter so happy and playing in the hospital room, making us laugh, and it's all so surreal. 7 weeks ago I was a typical guy with a typical…

Ok input please
So exerpt of CT scan report is shared below. The Cleveland Clinic doctor said it's too small to warrant "surgical intervention" but that's all I was told. He said if I wanted more information or was concerned to come in for an appointment - no suggestion for a follow up appointment or MRI or anything. Geez. Maybe someone…

How you feel after?
Kidney Angels, Im just wondering, did anyone feel better after cancer removed? I Know I am extra sensitive to what's happening in my body. But part of me haas been feeling really off for about 6 months before RCC diagnosis. It's hard to put into exact symptoms but just off and something not right. So I was wondering if…

Is it common to have kidney stones
Is it common to have kidney stones once you have had a nephrectomy? I have been having a lot of flank pain today and sharp pain either in the centre of my tummy and also towards the groin area. I tried to call the doctor today, but it was a futile attempt. It has worsened, and then it subsides. I really don't want to spend…

Hi I've been on the kidney board since Feb when my husband had a complete kidney removed. shortly after he complained of severe neck pain. A CT Was done followed by a needle biopsy. Had my 2nd opinion about my liver lesions and learned I'm pRCC
I met the AMAZING Dr. Molina yesterday. I LOVE her. Sorry for all the caps, but I loved her. I learned I have papillary RCC which I did not know before. She said it makes up around 10% of all RCC cases. She immediately ordered all new scans, bloodwork etc. She promised to get to the bottom of the lesion and go from there.…
