No success at getting an appointment at Sloan Kettering
I faxed my path report to the Oncologists office. I emailed my path report as well. They said he is "reviewing" it for the last 2 weeks. Secretary said he is very selective in who he will see. I have insurance. I thought it would be good to make contact in case I need surgery it is local to family. Seems to be odd an…

Awesome fist Votrient scan
Again, what an awesome fist Votrient scan Way back in 2011 I had an enlarged mediastinum lymph node located in the subcarinal region, EBUS biopsy was negative for malignancy. It did not change for about 3 years. After catching a cold or for some other reason it went haywire, coughing was my symptom. My cough was so bad or…

Do you buy a "Cancer Conspiracy?"
Hey, all, Sorry for the long post, but I think it'll be worth reading and discussing: I had some thoughts that I'd like to share with you all. Some of you who belong to some of the Facebook forums may have already seen a video of a woman with metastatic breast cancer holding up cards. At the end, she proclaims that Big…

Dealing with Dr.s
For those that don’t know my story. My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer Advanced and Aggressive. Today he is taking 1 chemo pill for the rest of his life. He is considered stable and there are similar cases like his that have done this for 10 years and are still fine. This is just a few examples of 1 day at…

More Lung surgeries
I have had RCC since December 2013. I have had my left kidney removed and one lung surgery. They are wanting to do two more to remove more growths. I feel that I have no guarantees that the surgeries will take it away forever and I'm not sure what to do. Is there anyone here that has had multiple surgeries?

Big Decision Looming after scans
Yesterday Had CT of chest to monitor 2 small 5mm nodules suspicious for met. RCC after L nephrectomy 7 months ago. This time my kidney function was good so they did a contrast scan. Nods have increased by about 1.5 to 2mm in approx. 3 months. OK fair enough these nods are close together in the right lower lobe of the…

I have been on Votrient 800mg for the past three months and recently my bloodwork has come back showing that my thyroid is not performing the way it should. My oncologist has put me on a thyroid medicine. Has anyone else had this problem and if so did it go away after you were taken off Votrient? Thanks.

Pathology review - can it change?
Hi sorry for being MIA. After I finally got my good report I gave myself a break from all things RCC related to focus strictly on my kids. I hope everyone is doing well. I got a call today from Dr. Molina's office that she would like a copy of my pathology slides so they can run their own report. Has anyone had their…

Kidney Mass discovered
I'm 38 y/o female. Was in the hospital for a complex UTI that ran up into my kidney and they did a CT Scan w/ contrast on me. I was told that I have a cyst (1.2 cm) and that I should have a follow up done. Before being discharged from the hospital the Dr wanted me to get a ultrasound to get a closer look at the cyst. The…

Update: All clear!! Well, now I get my very own scanxiety. Sigh :(
Well, I've got to go for a second mammogram. Nice. Just needed to vent where I knew I could get support. You guys get it and know how it feels. I guess they want better angles due to some assymetry. Evidently I'm very "dense" which happens in younger women. Yep, lol! I'm not going to freak out yet. Quite frankly, kidney…

Residual tumor left in vena cava
I had surgery for Stage 3 RCC to remove my right kidney and tumor extending into my vena cava about 8 months ago. Post surgery they immediately did a CT scan and then another in January. In April I had an MRI and it showed something that is 2cm still in my vena cava. It appears that it is residual that was left behind. I'm…

Big NEDs
This has been the month for Dr. appointments and tests. #1-last Oct. I had a questionable mammogram and had to return in Nov. for a mammo and US. They think it was a cyst, but had to go back early this month. No change, so return for a bi-lateral test in the fall. Breathe a sigh of relief, as I've had 2 biopsies in…

Benefits of being followed by a nephrologist vs. a urologist?
Hello everyone. This is my first day on the Forum and it has already helped me enormously. I learned about my 3.4' ish cm mass about two weeks ago, urologist pronounced it 99% likely to be cancer last week. I am now scheduled for surgery on June 25 (had to to get my life in order first). My urologist says he'll follow me…

Hello everyone! I was very excited to receive a really long and lovely email from Djinnie! She is now in a hospital on the coast of France. Chest X-Ray ?
Is it standard practice for surgeon to request for you to have chest X-rays before getting surgery? My husband seems to think its standard practice before any surgery as a way to check for pneumonia. I'm nervous that it's for Mets in lungs check. thanks
