A fellow cc will be featured on ABC’s hit series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. The show was responsible for building a new home for the Creasey family in November 2009. Because of the family's…

Please enough of the serious stuff. This is a real question and kind of funny. Hey, you folks said we could talk about pooping. A week or so back I was out cutting firewood for next winter. It is very cold here in Missouri and I am all bundled up in my insulated bib coveralls and heavy work coat. You know the kind with…

Good news prior to surgery
My husband went in for a short colonoscopy yesterday so that his surgeon could check the effect of his five week radiochemo treatment. What a surprise ! No trace of his primary tumor could be found. They even gave us a picture, luckily they had marked where it was with ink back in October. So he's going in for surgery on…

Just a reminder
I noticed awhile back we had newbies on the board. However they were posting on story section and I didn't see too many comments. Maybe we are over looking that section a bit. The newbies are not always sure where to start out at on the board so maybe we can all swing over there now and then and direct them to the…

My brother finally had a colonoscopy this week
I was dx'd 20 months ago with stage 3B colon cancer. 2 days after I was dx'd my identical twin sister had a colonoscopy- it was totally clean. I have 3 other siblings who for some reason would not. Truly, I think it is denial to the core. Like they would look at me and not hear a fricken word I was saying- wish I had a…

JohnSFO and round 3 of chemo (it went well)
Just thought I'd post an update that wasn't all bad news - John started his third round of chemo yesterday (Irinotecan and 5FU) and it went really well. He had done Irinotecan back in the fall and it was awful - the first dose laid him out for 10 days in addition to making him vomit copiously. This time they administered a…

Liver Surgery On
Hi All, I do not post much, I try to respond to those that I can and offer words of encouragement. Every time I read the posts here, my heart breaks! My sister was given the green light to have liver surgery! She will have it next week. This is a BIG step, as despite chemo since April of last year, her numbers have not…

what to eat ?
It seems to be the same old problem, what foods to eat. Since my surgery in May 2007 I've have had diarreah, (you know the runs) more times after surgery then I had before the surgery. I'm getting pretty damn frustrated with it. It makes me not want to eat anything I like. I'm getting sick of yogurt and applesauce. Maybe I…

Emmed??
Not sure if I spelled it correctly, but I've had a hell of a time dealing with nausea. I only have 5 more treatments to go, but that's about 15-20 days of feeling like total crap. Since I've gone back to work, I really can't afford those off days. My onc. nurse has made it her personal mission to resolve this. (Gotta love…

Radiation choices
I went to the Radiation Onc today. My "regular onc" sent me because she wanted to make sure we were covering all our bases. The radiation onc said that people that have colon cancer low in the decending side of the colon and if the tumor has left the bowel are often given radiation where the tumor was because of the chance…

really good burritos
I read an article on Yahoo that rated the quality and taste of grocery store burritos. I love burritos but I haven't eaten many lately. Mostly because the fast food ones aren't very good and the ones at burrito specialty places are $6 and up. I refuse to pay more than $3 for a burrito. My favorite mexican restaurant sells…

Leukoplasts (?)
Has anyone ever heard/dealt with leukoblasts/leukoplasts (?) on the underside of their tongue? I had one before I was diagnosed - it was a somewhat large, white, "blister" on the underside of my tongue. It didn't really hurt - but wouldn't go away. I thought it was an ulcer - but as I said - it didn't really hurt. My…

Brake Failure
When I was 24 I was driving across San Francisco to meet a friend at the movies. As I crested a particularly steep hill above Chinatown, my brakes suddenly failed with no warning. If you've ever visited here you know how steep the hills are and how crowded Chinatown is. I careened down the hill, gathering both speed and…
