We saw Jim's primary Doctor today and told him of our concerns over the conflicting information we'd gotten concerning the liver surgery. He said he would go for the surgery. Then his colon surgeon called and we discussed the situation and our concerns over what he saw, and he was concerned that the surgery may not be the…

More good news
Well, I had my appt today w/ my oncologist and also got back the results of my CEA test. It went down 19 points in the past month after having two treatments of Gemzar/5FU!! I was so happy and relieved. It went from 81 down to 62 this time. Obviously, 62 is still quite elevated, but it's moving in the right direction. I…

There have been a few members who were NED at one point and have had reccurence. Assuming you were no longer on Chemo, were any of you following a "cancer diet" or taking "anti-cancer" supplements continuing well after being NED or were you back to the same lifestyle prior to diagnosis? Here goes...
I'm leaving for NYC in a few minutes - first my CT scan, then onc appts. Hopefully my last 6 month checkup, and we can move on to annual scans... I'm assuming all will be clear, but I also know that cancer doesn't play by any rules. And, since I'm normal, I'm nervous. I've premedicated likely IV sites with Lidoderm (since…

High-risk surgery experiences
Hey folks. I have a sister having surgery to remove a colon tumor within the next week or so. My sister has several factors increasing the risk of the surgery (COPD and blood thinners). I'm curious as to whether anyone else on this board, or their family members, had similar risk factors for their surgery and how these…

We're going to a teaching hospital for surgery next Monday!!!!
A week from tomorrow, Jim goes for liver surgery at Loyola hospital. The surgeon who did the colon…

Hospice
This is a heart wrenching post for me to write. Over the weekend, my sister had some more excrutiating pain in her back. She went back to the hospital where they had to re-stent her kidneys and liver. New tumors had grown blocking the stents. She was able to receive much needed pain relief from the surgery. However, it was…
