Near death
When I was in recovery for my resection, the med team got anxious to bring me out a little too quickly and i stopped breathing and really fought to get my breath, pretty much a seizure. Mostly it was my chest and lungs laboring just trying to get air. Don't remember any mystical experiences, but when I did come to, the room was full of people in scrubs and they all looked very relieved. Glad I was out, actually during the experience.0 -

...Wouldn't mind hearing some stories, I find it fascinating.
I bet you had all those people shell-shocked Mike LOL0 -

Guys, what happened to me was when I was bleeding out in my gut and did not know it. I did feel like I was about to croak. This was 1/09 It was the lowest point I had in this mess. What I saw/felt really shook me up as it was nothing like a dream. From that point on I knew deep inside that I could beat this crap if I wanted to.
It could have been from the percocet or simply blood loss. I don’t know and it bugs the hell out of me. I think of it daily and can’t find an explanation that fits. I don’t like things that I don’t understand.0 -

Yes, it was 2003. - I broke my neck (fractured C1 & C2). Just like John said there was the light and the question. I wore a "Halo" for 3 months. I have no paralysis.0 -

What exactly did you see that shook you up so much? I seen things like signs from my family who are deceased, was it frightening? We won't always understand everything that goes on, but the saying that everything happens for a reason will always make up for it for me. It's trying to come up what the reasons are for that things happen

John,
I think that is why we stay with them. Just when we think we understand them they change.
My wife it good at that.0 -
Bill's story
Since there's been a fair amount of discussion on this, I decided to just post it here. On June 5, 2000, my husband suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while driving to work. There's a longer story about a series of miracles that resulted in him being brought back, but I'll concentrate on the near death part. The paramedics told us later that they had schocked him 3 times, and were getting ready to "call," when they detected a faint heartbeat. Our daughter was at the scene (I didn't get there until he was back). They wouldn't let her get close enough to touch him or talk to him, so she was standing hearby praying silently. Bill said he felt like he was in a vast space, and there was a doorway that he felt compelled to go through. The only thing was, there was nothing beneath him. When he looked to the left there was a wall with very exquisite blue tiles. He was mesmerized by this, and as he stood there looking at it, it dawned on him where he was. At that point he heard a very authoritative voice ask him if he could think of a reason to go back. Being a humble man, he couldn't think of anything he could offer that would be worthy. The voice asked, "What about your daughter? Your son? Wouldn't you like to see their weddings?" Bill replied that he would, and the voice said, "Then go back!" There was no playing with this. It was a voice that must be obeyed. At that time, neither our son nor our daughter was engaged or even seriously dating someone, so it's not something that would have been on Bill's mind. Rachel got married first, and Matt just recently got married, and Bill did tell me that he had a tiny little worry that maybe his mission was fulfilled now that he'd seen them both married. I sure hope not! I like being married to him...
If anyone wants to know the miracle parts, I'll share that in an email.
*hugs*

I believe that this 'life' is not'home'
but more like a 'boarding school' where we are sent to learn.
(shortest way to explain)
when I see the bright white light. I am not staying.

Not for Me - But From my Sister
Well, on the night my sister was murdered, I was many miles away at a basketball game in Dallas...she was about 130 miles away.
During the game, the crowd was screaming and yelling so loud, it was almost deafening. All of a sudden, the game and all of the people around me went into slow-motion and the noise went strangely quiet - I could see everyone yelling but could not hear a sound.
I felt something tugging at me but I could not understand what it was that I was experiencing. The feeling passed and the next day we found out that Suzanne was "gone."
Upon reflection, what I believe happened was that she was "calling out" to me trying to tell me that something was very wrong and that she needed help. I think of it in terms like she was telling me "goodbye" before she passed away.

I would like to be PM too, I am very interested! I have always been told that I sense things before they happen and have interest in anything you can share.
This isn't an experience but just sharing.....
Two weeks ago I sat at the oncologist office waiting for my appt when I saw this literature on pancreas cancer, I don't know why I picked it up but I did, stuck it in my purse. The week came and went, never looked at it, then my sister called telling me she was going to the emergency room. She has been in there 9 days, her gallbladder removed and her pancreas is so inflamed that she is being fed intravenously. The inflammation won't go down and she is going in for more tests this morning. These are the little signs that I have gotten most of my life. Strange but I had my own sign too, just ignored it......
My husband knows all about this as sometimes he too can't believe that I act before things have happened.0 -
yes i did
i know you asked for us to private email you on this subject however i've noticed many others here are interested so if i may post my experience here? thank you in advance.
well, i've experienced this 3 times. yes, 3 times. ironicly not related to cancer but another ailment i have which is kidney failure. i'll describe my first experience and if anyone including you Kerry has any questions or comments i'll try and follow them here or you can email me at tqm1ed@aol.com.
anyway--it was the second day i was open for business...*had opened my own business at the age of 23 and low and behold the second day i collapsed and was pronounced dead when the paramedics arrived*
what i remember is how bright everything was. i had a showroom which i had just painted and the sun was shining through the windows. all of a sudden the walls got brighter and where the sun was shining through the windows got dimmer. i remember feeling so relaxed and the light seeming brither then the sun yet i was still staring at it and it didn't bother me. i remember thinking i had just gotten married, bought a new home, two new cars and started a business and thought to myself i've accomplished so much in my short life if God wants me i'll go....the feeling again was """"soooo peaceful"""" and when i came back internally i was 'pissed' but thought if this is Gods will then okay.... it just felt like the weight of the world was off my shoulders and i was in a place where i didn't want to leave...i never saw anyone or anything---just being so bright and peaceful...i've never been afraid to die and this experience instilled that belief and still does to this very day.
hope everyone here is doing well!! i follow many stories and am amazed at the strength people have not only to get through there own fight for there life but admire most how you all seem to help each other.....your wonderful people and i'm blessed to have read and even comment on a post or two. have a great Sunday!!

so I am telling you all what happened
Ok, everybody is very open with this subject so I am telling you all what happened.
Remember I was on percocet and had a lot of blood loss. I was put in the hospital 2 days after this happened to fix the bleed. I did not know you guys back then, but I have to tell you I was not the positive mined guy at the time this happened that I am now.
What happened was I saw my dad who has been gone for 24 years. He grabbed me by the back of the neck and tossed me across the room. Saying in his angry voice “fight damn it”. I also saw all the members of my family that I knew and have passed on. They were on a grass area next to a running brook. They were all just smiling and waving to me. This was not anything like a dream. It was my turn around point in the battle. 3 days later I was scanned and found to be NED. See why I am a little freaked out about it.

Don't be freaked out,
Kerry,
Don't be freaked out, you have been given a blessing, a chance to see those that have passed. Obvioulsy your Dad was making sure that you knew it was not your time yet. I have not had a near death experience, but did see my Grandpa one night, I thoughy it may have been a dream but he stepped out of my dream and was standing in my room asking me how I was.
