Many of you know from previous posts that I am a six year survivor and am now recovering from my third liver resection. This time it was the entire right lobe and a piec of my diaphram where the tumor came out of the live and attached to my diaphram. What a surprise that was. Well I went back to see my surgeon and he just…

Today was a doozy! I called my stylist and had my head buzzed this morning.
After I finished in the shower and vacuuming the floor, I called my stylist and had my head buzzed this morning. Well, I took a shower and saw lots of hair dropping. Yes, as a 56 year-old woman, it was quite a shock. I did drop a few tears but now I am glad I did it. The hair was coming out way too much and I knew it was…

My update
My update, I know I don’t post here very often anymore so I thought I’d give all of you an update on what’s going on. As of 1 ½ years out from my last chemo treatment the cancer has not returned and my CEA count looks great. But I’m still having a very hard time with the nerve damage caused by the Oxaliplatin in my hips,…

Adjuvant Chemo Completed. Scans Done. Doc Appt on 30th.
4 cycles of adjuvant chemo completed. After third cycle the CEA was 2.8 dropped from 31.3 before the chemo started. PET and CT both were done yesterday. Hate the barium sulphate, long wait after nuclear medicine shot and fasting of 24 hours. And now this wait till 30th to see the doc to discuss results and future action. I…

Getting my CT Scan today -- and then the wait.
I hate waiting for the results on these CT Scans. You never know if it will be good news or life changing bad news. Well the CEA is 1.9 and so far I've been free and clear since the operation in May, 2009 and being staged at 2A. Hope everyone has a great New Year and remember to take it a day at a time.

"Do I Know How to Celebrate the Holidays or What?"
Well, the end of the year is upon us now....I'm busy trying to get all of the "work" done to repair my body and keep it out on the road for 2012. The plan year is ending for both medical and dental and I've had to put myself in the body shop to "add some wiper fluid and put air in the tires." LOL! I had an MRI scan on my…

Restaging-What does it mean?
Hi all, I went for my second 3 month post surgery visit with the surgeon and oncologist. CEA was 1.0.,But that was never a good marker for me as it was 0.7 the day of my colon surgery. Anemia was my major symtomn that lead to the colonoscopy. My oncologist wants to do restaging CT scans. I was originally diagnosed as a…

In surgery
My husband was suppose to have his embolization today at noon but did not get in until almost 4pm due to emergencies. I just got the call that every thing went well and they are waking him up. It has been a very long day but I guess I look at it that if we were ever in the need of an emergency surgery we would take…

cimetidine and digestion 101
America seriously abuses acid inhibitors, a habit that creates other problems. Long time readers know that I think highly of cimetidine as a molecular therapy for those adenocarcinoma patients biomarked with CA19-9 (and CSLEX1), the supermajority of advanced colorectal cancer patients, as literally the first aid. All that…

Just woke up from chemo fog, late start on Christmas!
Merry Christmas, all! The holiday came and went since last Thursday when I had my 8th chemo treatment of Xelox. I have mostly been asleep since then, in between wake-up periods for medication and sickness. When I finally really woke up this afternoon, took a shower, and got dressed, my three little dogs were so excited to…

Newbie to Rectal/Colonoscopy Exams and Results - Needing Advice
My surgeon performed a colonoscopy on 12/1/11. During the exam, he found 6 rectal polyps. He removed 5 however he was only able to remove 80% of the 6th and stated I would need another surgery in 2-3 months to remove the remainder. He stated that the 6th polyp was "suspicious". Obviously, biopsies were taken from all of…

Embolization (*spelling?)
Went to the family Christmas and was feeling pretty festive until a family member that is an RN sat and explained how sick my husband will be for the next month because he is having surgery to block off the blood supply this coming week. He told the rest of the family that he will be very sick afterwards because that side…
