Finally got a appt date for MD Anderson.

I really wanted to start treatments before then but I realize its a very busy place so playing the waiting game again.
My Onc here wanted to start me on folfiri in early Jan. Im hoping extra few weeks wait wont matter as I really want to see what they have to say.
Anyone know if you can recieve treatments in your hometown based on what they recomend @ MDA?

Hi Kenny
I started my treatment at MDA. My onc here was in agreement with what they chose and it was coninued here. When I was at MDA I saw a Dr. Scott Kopitz. Do you know who you are seeing?

Good luck Kenny with the Dr..
I guess since MD Anderson is ranked #1, it's difficult to get an appt sooner. But it seems like 2 weeks won't be too significant esp since your local dr is ok with it. Perhaps you can call or have someone help you call a few times a day and see if there are any cancellations so they ca squeeze you in sooner.I know someone who goes to MD Anderson and gets treatment locally, but gets scans at md anderson and then meets with the dr in the afternoon. I've gone to sloan and I remember my mom's local onc had no issues conferring with each other about the next course of treatment. I can't imagine traveling so far for a certain chemo regime that you can get locally unless it's clinical trial esp with the anticipate fatigue, etc.
Anyway, I hope your appointment goes well. I hope those tiny mets will be shrunk into oblivion. My best wishes to you.0 -

MD Anderson
the trip to houston is worth it - I am seeing a liver surgeon Dr Steven Curley - one piece of advice is have your blood tests done at the Rotary House - it is the hotel connected to the clinic - they are owned by MDA so you dont have to be a guest at the hotel to use them - instead of waiting w 200 other people you will get in and out in 20 min - they can also get you a fast Xray if that is called for - they have hours from 3 - 8 on sunday0 -

Kenny,
Hey, thinking of you with positive thoughts and prayers. I have a head scan on December 28th and meet in the pm for results. Checking for distant nodes.... feeling hopeful .....praying numbness and pain in my face, jaw, sinus, and ear due to our friend oxy.
