Swollen breast
My aunt's breast is very swollen, it is the same side that she had a lumpectomy and hand gets swollen, and now has a rash spot. She told the dr one month ago and they haven't done or said anything about it. I could not believe how swolen her breast is but her legs are very swollen and they haven't done anything. Does…

Lump News
I just received the results of the biopsy. The lump is benign!!! I have a tiny metal marker near the lump and they'll keep an eye on lump on future mammograms. I am soooo relieved!! I have a multicolored (mostly purple) breast and a big lump, effects from the biopsy but all this will disappear eventually. Thank you Ladies…

Metastatic breast cancer
I think my aunt has metastatic breast cancer, she had breast cancer about 10 or 11 years ago, was fine and then last year they found bone cancer which was being cured by treatment. Within the last several months, they said she has thyroid cancer. She is being treated with taxoter. She has swelling of the feet and they…

KathiM - Last week of rads?
By my calculation, you have just completed your last full week of rads. Are you still set to have a last day on Tuesday? And how are you going to celebrate? My husband took me out to breakfast on my first day post treatment. I spent the day just doing nothing - because I could. Hugs. Lesley

mastectomy with reconstruction
I need some input from others who have had this surgery. I had a simple Mst. 2 weeks ago today and they placed a spacer under the muscles to stretch the skin for a later implant. My concern is when/if the pain will go away soon or is this a condition that will last indefinitely?

delayed reconstruction? stories please!
Hi, I'm totally done with treatment (surgery - left mastectomy 7/16/05, chemo, radiation was complete May 2005)and I'm looking at reconstruction. I was really set on a TRAM, but the recovery time is putting me off. I'm starting to consider an implant, but some of the things I'm reading mention that they aren't the best…

Breast tissue turning to fat?
My doctor sent me to a general surgeon. (my insurance company says that there is no such thing as a "breast surgeon"). My last mamo was in March. Since then I have an indentation that looks like a thumb print on my breast. The doctor told me to come back in a year. He won't do another mamo even though this occurred after…

Life can be beautiful after BC !
Hi everyone, I know some of you are going through chemo and other treatments right now. I went through all that 7 years ago, and I know how terrifying that can be. At times you wonder if your life will ever be the same. No, it won't. There are lasting changes. But for me, life became better! I was able to reassess my…

Quitting Arimidex
I am new to this forum. My question is: has anyone who is or has taken arimidex, ever stopped taking it because of the harsh side effects it has on your body? I have been on it for 2 years now following chemo and radiation. I am wondering if anyone has stopped taking it and have you regretted it? thanks..

From the colorectal board...use it if you want...
There was a couple who used to go England to shop in a beautiful antique store. This trip was to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They both liked antiques and pottery, especially teacups. Spotting an exceptional cup, they asked "May we see that? We've never seen a cup quite so beautiful." As the lady handed it to…

God is good
I just wanted to write about my experience. I am 37 years old, and 10 months ago had a mastectomy with TRAMM flap reconstruction. First was chemo, then the surgery, then radiation. I was out of work about a year. Anyway, my point is, I feel back to my normal self. My hair is growing back so curly, my color is back to…

I'm Scared
Next Tuesday, I'm having core biopsy using ultrasound for a dense tissue mass in right breast. The surgeon yesterday upon exam said the mass moves around freely, which is a good sign? Women I've shared this with have said that they all know others who have had biopsies with no cancer diagnosis. I'm just now going on with…

Worry
I am a 1 1/2 year survivor of Inflamatory breast cancer. I have been reading the postings here since I was diagnosed but have rarely participated in the discussion. The postings have really helped me through all of this. I was diagnosed in Oct. 2004, had 4 rounds of taxotere/adriamycin/cytoxin, then a left radical…

Arimidex & Hot Flashes
I have been taking Arimidex for about 5 months. It seems that my Hot Flashes are getting worse over time. I have talked to my oncologist. She has recommended that I first try taking Vitamin E, which I have done for the last month. But it doesn't seem to be doing any good. She also said that if it didn't get better she…

Outsmart Your Cancer
In the resource Library is a book I posted called Outsmart Your Cancer. I learned of a non-toxic alternative medicine called Protocel 50. That is what I took for my vulvar cancer. It has been 18 months since my surgery, and I am cancer free. I took no chemo or radiation, just Protocel 50. I highly recommend this book,…

There is a new drug (of course, not approved for America yet) that will work with Xeloda that is called Tykerb. A backup for Herceptin or possible replacement for women who can't take it... THIS IS WAY COOL!!!!! Hugs, Kathi
