tamoxifen for Atypical lobular hyperplasia
Met with my oncologist yesterday. We discussed Tamoxifen for ALH. Because of my family history and ALH I have up to 7 times greater risk of getting cancer than someone with no risk factors. Tamoxifen can cut the risk by 45-50%. I'm afraid of the side effects as is my husband. I already struggle with my weight and sometimes…

Lucky me! Extra-Special Valentine's Day!
I didn't post on the "plans for Valentine's Day" thread because I wasn't expecting much this year. We had planned to reinforce the foundation to our house before we found I have cancer, and between the foundation and the cancer treatments, money is very tight. Also, my DH hasn't been a big Valentine's Day celebrator in…

The last few days have been a bit of a blur. Chemo was Thur. No complaints other than a sore throat and feeling a bit foggy. By late afternoon, I began to feel a lot of pain in my…

Cost of Radiation
Has anyone elected not to do radiation or only to do part of it because of cost? Up until now my insurance has paid for almost everything but it seems that they arent paying as much for radiation. At $1,000 out of pocket each time, 33 treatments...I will go bankrupt. Any suggestions?

Yikes! Anyway, she is sooo sweet that I named her Honey. She was semi-welcomed by our 5yr old dog. I'm getting out more, about 17 times a day - even tho it's just outside to potty - the puppy, not me. Something fun to post this time. I hope it helps to lift others spirits as it has mine. Sue

Did anyone choose a mastectomy over radiation?
Hi, I am weighing out the pro's and con's for both. I don't like that radiation can potentially give you a cancer. And for me it would be on my left side, too close to my heart for comfort. What are your thoughts on this? Ayse

Great, cheap bra to use during reconstruction
I found a great bra to get me through reconstruction!! It's made by Warners and it's called "Up a Cup." It's a padded bra without wires (hard to find) that is designed to help you appear bigger than you really are. The nice thing is that the cups are molded (but not overly rigid) so they don't collapse without having…
