I don't know if I should believe this
Found this article on the BBC website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/6214655.stm Housework cuts breast cancer risk I'm tired of all these studys that say this or that. What! I did housework and still got breast cancer...didn't cut my risk! I got it so I guess that is 100%. I think they need to look at a lot of different other…

Best cancer treatment facility in Michigan
My wife is 30 years old and was just diagnosed with stage 3 inflammatory breast cancer on June 22nd (one day after the birth of our first child). We're both having an extremely difficult time adjusting and coping with this news. We're moving back to the Michigan area to be near family during her treatment. What's the best…

Did Anyone Else Feel This Way?
I finished 6 rounds of Chemo (TAC) May 6th and just started rads this week. Even though this whole ordeal has been stressful, frightening and so not fun, most days I've managed to laugh, find some happiness and be grateful for the many blessings I have in my life. However, this week, with going to radiation therapy every…

treatment or emotional stress?
Hi, I have to honestly say that the emotional distress is harder for me than the treatment itself. I find myself questioning where I am at in life so far. And it really distresses me that this may be it. I KNOW I shouldn't think that way but it creeps up. I feel pressured that I need to make a change. And everyone around…

I watched rerun
I watched rerun of Dr. Oz today and was amazed to learn that the majority of women examine their breasts infrequently and incorrectly. A female dr he had on the show said each breast exam should take approx 8 minutes per breast. So, the next time a dr asks if you are examining your breasts tell the truth and ask how it…

Does anyone know if it matters which one they pick for prevention? She wants to try boniva but we're not sure if one is better than another.…

So...what's the worst that could happen?
(Or: Blu says "Hey Cancer, bite THIS!) So I finished rads at the end of April, after finishing college in the middle of April. Then I began job hunting. Dismal at first, but finally got a great job. (Oh, did I mention I had IDC stage 3? minor detail). I haven't seen my onc since Feb. It just occurred to me that I maybe…

Mastectomy questions
Good evening to all my new sisters :) I was diagnosed last week, and this week I'm meeting with the oncologist Tuesday, plastic surgeon Wednesday, and back to my surgeon on Friday to discuss my surgery decision. I have a cancerous lump in my right breast, my mammogram and ultrasound did not show evidence of anything else…

anyone else really tired all of the time?
I take arimidex, work, etc. But I feel so tired much of the time. I take the multivitamins, etc., that are prescribed for me. I worry that it is a sign of another cancer in my body. Next onco check up is in August. Does anyone else ever feel this way?

Can't believe it is happening
I am 36 years old and I was diagnosed with DCIS almost two weeks ago. I had a mastectomy last Friday and I am currently waiting for all the pathology results to come back (hopefully today). They performed a sentinel lymph node biopsy with the mastectomy. In the OR, sentinel node down and dirty biopsy was clean. Hoping that…

MyTurnNow - Mammo results
Well, first of all, it was a little tight in the room but I was so thankful to have all of you with me. You may have even heard me talking to you while I was waiting for the results of the ultrasound. I didn't say anything on the board but I had a "lump" that I noticed about 2-3 weeks ago. Needless to say, I was concerned…

Finding a good plastic surgeon
Hi all I've been haunting this board for a couple months now. Thank you all for your sharing and your courage. I had a mastectomy last August, left-side, following a diagnosis of DCIS. The day after the mastectomy they found esophageal cancer, so I've been dealing with that. Now, thankfully, I'm NED and am finally ready to…

All wrapped up! Help!
As some of you know, I had another biopsy a little over a month ago. Well the surgeon said it was just scar tissue, and it should heal within a few months. Since then, It became a huge blistered area which was very sore. I had an appointment with my rad oncoligist and his PA told me to go back to the surgeon and have her…

When do you take your tamoxifen?
I am going to start taking tamoxifen soon (I picked the 4th of July). With the side effects that most people tend to have,I was wondering is there a better time to take it than another? Does it take a few days to start to feel those side effects? I have asked my doctor and tend to get the "everyone is different" answer.…

Did you have a feeling?
Before you were diagnosed with cancer, did you have a feeling that something was wrong, even before you found the lump or had any symptoms. Was there something nagging at you that the sky was about to fall down on you? Did you wake up to a black aura and a feeling of dread? Did you dream of sitting in a doctor office while…

What do you consider your 'cancerversary'?
Just wonder what other's thought. The day you were DX'd? The day you started/ended chemo? The day you had surgery? The day you started/finished rads? The day of your first scan that showed NED? I'm not sure which I think. Susan

New Member
Hello everyone- I've just joined. The name I selected "Double Whammy" is because I was diagnosed with both breast and endometrial cancers in late April 2010. Both were the result of routine mammography and Pap smear - and this is why we get them. To date I've had a lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy (May 11). The breast…

New diagnosis, pathology, and surgery
Well I finally got some sense made of my pathology report. It looks like I'm 'almost' triple negative, with progesterone receptor being a weak positive at 1-5%. 1.5 cm mass, grade 3. I'll be having a mastectomy, with expanders put in immediately, followed by chemotherapy-4 rounds of cytoxan/adriamycin, and then 2 rounds of…

how long after chemo ends until the side effects begin to wear off
Hi all! I am getting ready for my 5th chemo treatment and have handled everything pretty well but the longer this goes on the more weary I become. I know it is short-term but sometimes I get really frustrated with the side effects. My last treatment is July 15th and I will have surgery a few weeks after that date, followed…
