diagnosed yesterday
Wow am I glad I stumbled upon these discussion boards this morning...I'm 34 years old, a stay at home mom to 2 beautiful girls, ages 9 and 18 months, and yesterday I found out that I have breast cancer. I found a lump a few months back (which my family Dr. said wasn't anything to worry about....) and after the…

" God Heals"
Remember when you heard the words-and you mind went blank-you were in another world. God heals. Remember in your darkest hours- when all that surrounds you is pain and sorrow. God heals. Remember friend's prayers-your family encouragement-glimmers of hope from everyday angels. God heals Quiet... you can hear Him now-always…

Chemo Grad - and THANK YOU!
Last Friday, June 11th, was my 6th (and final) round of CT. I received lots of love, support and congratulations from my friends and loved ones. At the same time, my mind has kept returning to all of the amazing people on this site. So, as excited as I am to be through one part of this journey and on to the next (rads),…

NED It is!
Mammogram yesterday, and just heard that all is well.....thank goodness. Now I am looking forward to a "sleep deprived" Brain EEG on Friday, the 25th. What the heck is that? Have had a regular EEG, but this one is allowing four hours sleep in the 24 hours prior to the EEG, and no caffine either. Guess they want to see if…

My turn for Relay for Life
The Relay for Life was an amazing experience. Emotionally charged events during my 12 hours were the survivor's lap which I walked with a new 33-year old friend who has just completed her first chemo -- and seeing my name and those of my deceased parents up on the screen during the luminaria ceremony. Also very touching…

Had My Quarterly Onco Visit
Had my quarterly onco visit today and was given the two thumbs up that all is well for the time being for which I of course was happy to hear. They did blood work to check my cancer markers so we'll see how those turn out hopefully by Friday. ♥ RE ♥

Has anyone had their masectomy and sentinal node biopsy, then to find after path report comes back that it has spread to nodes and had to go get another surgery for axillary node dissection? I am 3 1/2 weeks after bilateral masectomy. About a week after surgery my surgeon called to tell me that unfortunately 3 out of the 5…

6 Truths of Life~Things you probably never even knew.....I know I didn't!
6 TRUTHS OF LIFE 1. You cannot stick your tongue out and look up at the ceiling at the same time. 2. All idiots, after reading #1 will try it. 3. And discover #1 is a lie. 4. You are smiling now because you are an idiot. 5. You soon will forward this to another idiot. 6. There is still a stupid smile on your face. I…

Word of the day for tonight...or tomorrow
Psalm 27....The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; though war may rise against…

Insurance approved my treatment of Avastain and Abraxene
Looks like my insurance will be covering my treatment of Avastain, they are stating that they never denied it even though i have a copy of the denial letter. I believe it was because I called them and told them I was going to contact the media and let them know that they are denying FDA approved treatment for breast cancer…

Thanks to all-Ned my new guy
I am dancing! And I want to thank everyone for the support, hugs and tips. I am so greatful to have so many friends that shared their hearts with me, directly and indirectly. The one truth I have found is that we share and understand something that friends and family don't, that we are changed and must find a "new normal"…

Word for the day Psalm 23 very popular scripture
The Lord is my shepard; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your…

Just curious, if you have a strong family history...
Just curious, if you have s strong family history (as I do), did you have the genetic testing and did you test positive or negative? My sister and I both did the testing (many years apart) and we both tested negative for BRCA1 & 2. The oncologist says that we have a gene, but they just don't have a test for it yet.

So! Excited!

Anyway, I went to get some pants for an event, and the lady who waited on me was also a breast cancer survivor STAGE…

Arimidex
Hi Ladies, I stopped Femara in March, due to bad side effects and haven't taken anything since. I met my new Onc. on Thursday and he's trying me on Arimidex. I know they all have side effects but I was wondering if anyone has tried more than one? I have hopes of this one working better with my body. He did mention that…

Wonderful father's day!
My beau was the star of the show... we visited my stepdaughter in her new condo, and then walked around the 'village' she lives in (now, this is So Calif...so the village is a bit different...lol!). The day was sunny, with just a little breeze to keep it cool. I lost my dad over 20 years ago, but still felt him by my side…

Just ranting so you might not want to read this.
Stop, you might not want to read any further. I just need to get some words out of my body. I have become somewhat of a hermit for many months now. I was always on line at this site and did the chatroom but when the webpage had so much difficulty, I kind of got lost. My last chemo was June of 2007 and since then have ended…

Expander questions...
Hello Girls! I am still pretty new to this whole thing so excuse my ignorance if this is silly...I had my bilateral May 4 with expanders put in at the time of surgery. I have a small frame so my PS is taking it slow with fills. He started me off with 30cc at surgery and I have had 4 or 5 fills since then of 30cc each. My…

Do something special for your Cancerversary?
A year ago today I heard the words, "You have breast cancer" from my PCP. I consider this my cancerversary since, from that day forward, my life was changed. What did you do for your cancerversary? I'm thinking of buying a cake with those horrible words on it, then slicing through it and stabbing it! (ooo, still in anger…

After chemo is done, how long is the wait until the docs rec. tamoxifen?
I was just wondering, after the chemo is done, what is the typical procedure? I won't need radiation, but Tamoxifen was recommended for at least 2 years followed by Aromasin. I am assuming I will need a catscan/petscan after the chemo is completed. It would be nice to have a break before oral chemo, especially since I have…
