Just radiation
For those of you who JUST had radiation...do you get comments like...well at least that is all you had to go through? OR was it really cancer if no chemo? I know I have not gone through near as much as many here-but I still had the unknown, uncertain, what would I look like afterwards (lumpectomy-took me almost month to…

I'm another one that needs to vent
I'm really at a loss as to what to do/think....I found out in February that there were sclerotic legions on my 4th and 5th ribs. This is the same lump that I mentioned in my other thread. Apparently they showed up in Decembers CT scan but I wasn't told about them till I went to the ER in February. I've been told by my…

~My turn to vent~
Well folks I guess we all have times when we feel the need to vent, this is mine. Today one of my neighbors who is a bit quirky stopped me while I was walking to the mail box. I thought to myself, self I wonder what’s up today. After a bit of small talk she blurted out “so did you have both breasts removed or just one? I…

Question About types of Cancers
Hi my ladies, I have a question regarding some words Oncos use during their chats with you. I am confused. Based on your experience, you may be able to help me answer those questions. 1.When they talk to you about your current cancer, and they say “prevent new cancers from happening” – what exactly do they mean? Is it to…

OFF TOPIC: 102 degrees here today!
We hit 102 degrees here in the San Fernando Valley today....I had a candle sitting in my bedroom by an open window, and it was actually partly liquified by the end of the day! It looks like we're sending our heat wave on over to Arizona tomorrow, so you're welcome, Arizona Ladies, for our "steamy" little California gift to…

I'm back with more questions about my SIL's cancer
So she talked to her oncologist today, and said that she has the mets to her bones, lungs and lymph nodes. That the oncologist is going to put her on HORMONES not chemo, as they have discovered that that is what works with former breast cancer patients that have had chemo previously. So no chemo or radiation, just hormones…

As some of you know my mom is a bc stage IV, triple negative, with mets in the liver. We had a visit with the oncologist last week where she had blood work and she told me that the blood work was better. I really didn't mean to keep you all in suspense this long...
My only excuse is a wonderful afternoon. I couldn't dump our surprise at the hotel with the rest of day in front of us. We went to the mall for souvenirs to take back, and then the park for a walk in the sun (it was out briefly), watched the ducks and turtles with... Our surprise guest was Phoenix Rising! She came all the…

Does anyone have painful, tingling bottoms of your feet?
This has recently developed and is quite painful when I walk. I also am a fairly new diabetic and am not sure which one this could be related to, or something new. I bought new shoes, and nothing changed yet. Thanks for your thoughts.

Off topic. My mom update.
Today was bittersweet. I arranged the movers to take everything from mom's apartment back to her house. She had a glorious 3 months in her new home, October thru January, but that's over now. The staff were as warm and caring as usual. They all asked about her. It was then I went and visited with my mom. It was an altered…

OK, ladies... Here I am second chemo treatment and my gut is swinging in the constipation direction. Any advice? I have already tried the senokot-S and the ONC recommends Milk of Magnesia tomorrow if I don't turn on. Since I have 2 more treatments to go, I may as well learn some tricks of the trade. Any advice would be…

Fatigue
Hi, I am new to this site. I had a successful lumpectomy in December and there was no lymph node involvement, so I feel very lucky. I finished a short session (16) of radiation 2-1/2 weeks ago and am on Arimidex. I have read the discussions about how extensive fatigue can be and how long it can take to taper off. My…

Venting
I keep forgetting things and can't find words fast enough when trying to hold a conversation. OK...I try hard to accept it but what really makes me mad is when I say to people," Sorry, Chemo Brain," they roll their eyes and say things like, "Oh come on, that was almost 2 years ago." The only reason that I even say that is…

OOOPS!!!!!!! Clerical error
I went to the radiation oncologist today. I thought it was a bit early for the consult as I had not even started chemo. I thought ok so I am off work at present, no problem. As I was asking him questions about the effects of rads I mentioned HER2. He said you are not HER2. We looked at the e-records and sure enough there…

1st onco visit today, getting Oncotype, anyone do Taxotere/Cytoxan and/or Tamoxifen?
My onco is sending out my pathology for an Oncotype which should be back in 2 weeks. He is a big supporter of chemo for intermediate as well as high results, so I guess from what he told me I have a 60% chance of needing chemo. He said he will use Taxotere and Cytoxan (4 treatments), should it be necessary. Anyone else on…

question on Gemzar side effects
Hello, I'm a regular on the colorectal board & I have stage IV colorectal cancer. I'm on the breast cancer board now, though, because I know that several of you may be on or have been on Gemzar (gemcitabine). I am in the unusual position of having "used up" all the chemos for colorectal cancer and I am now on a combo of…

Good read
I recently read a book called "Cancer Vixen" by Marisa Acocella Marchetto it is a graphic novel by a woman who is also a cartoonist. It is about her fight with cancer. I loved it, she has a very up beat view and discusses her life in New York and the type of cancer and treatment she got. Anyway, I thought it was a fun read…
