Urologist or Oncologist
My dad has bladder cancer and we are trying to get him to go for a second opinion for treatment from a Oncologist. I guess my question is wheither a Uroloigist or an Oncologist is the expert when it comes to bladder cancer? Thanks so much in advance, Tim

Pain management
What frustrates me is how seemingly indifferent some of the doctors and nurses seem to be to the level of pain. I had a ureteroscopy and the doctor had me carrying a stent for several days. The pain was horrifying. It was like getting given a kidney stone. How dare any doctor expect that to be endured at home? If they're…

Chemo before or after bladder removal

BCG side effects
My husband has had bladder cancer since 2004 and has two surgeries to remove the tumor, most recent last April 2008. He seems to be having more and more side effects of the BCG treatments and has frequent urination issues all the time now. They put him on several prescriptions for spasms, etc. and now on antibiotics again.…

Possible Bladder Cancer?
For the past year, I've had small amounts of blood show up on urine tests. My doctors brushed it off as urinary track infections and past problems with kidney stones. But I was involved in a car accident last weekend and was sent to the hospital. I did not suffer serious injuries - just a small bump on my head. But more…

My sister-in-law recently had her bladder removed, and she has an excellent prognosis. We know she has a lot to adjust to. It has been 3 months since the surgery, and we don't know how to provide the emotional support she needs now. She seems sad more often now, post surgery, than she was during treatment or right…

My mom, who is 76 years old, found out she had gall stones in October 2008 and also around that time, she found out she has gallbladder cancer. What stage is this likely to be?
Hello all, I am new here, and from the UK. I am desperately worried about my Grandfather, who is 78. My dear Grandmother died from breast cancer in November and now her husband has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer. The problem is, he is very protective of all of us, and is trying to take the weight of it by himself.…

BC with Neo-Bladder
I am having much trouble regulating my BM's 18 days post-op. If I take the Stool Softener that was prescribed (Surfak), it causes me to have explosive diarrhea that can last for 3 hours and wipes me out. After 3 days of this, I called my urologist and he prescribed Lomotil. I only took one dose of this and then no Surfak…

Dad just diagnosed....
My Dad had a mass removed on Wednesday. Today he went back to see the doctor and was told he has stage 3 cancer and to come back in 2 months for a recheck. He was also told they may have to "pump" some chemo into his bladder at that time. I don't understand how they could have given him a stage if they didn't remove any…

Incontinence Issues
My husband was diagnosed with T2a N0M0 bladder cancer in January, and he had RC Neobladder Surgery at IU Medical Center on March 31, 2009. (That hospital was a great experience, by the way.) BCG vs Neobladder
I am 55, male, and recently was diagnosed with BC - Stage 1 Grade 3 tumor, removed recently. My doctor is leaning towards bcg treatments and close monitoring, but my concern is the % of tumors that seem to be understaged at diagnosis, and the time lost if bcg doesn't work and the tumor comes back. The bladder removal…
