How soon after?
Hello Ladies :) I will get Round 2 of Chemo on Monday. This time around I will be getting the Carbo/Taxol instead of the Cisplatin (as I have completed Radiation)... Since I did not lose my hair with the Cisplatin and I know I will with the Carbo/Taxol, what is the timeframe you all have started losing your hair. I have…

Haven't posted in a while
It's been a while since I have posted. My mom was diagnosed a year ago with uterine cancer that is inoperable. She is 78. She could not handle the carboplatnin because it wiped out her platelets . They attempted to do radiation but that lowered her platelets also. For the past six months she has been receiving low dose…

I am being hopeful=newbie
Hi, my name is Belva . and I possibly may be a new member. I have been having hip and back pain for 4 months now constantly. At first I went to my primary doctor who diagnosed me with arthritis after taking Xrays and when medicine didn't help I went to gynocologist and he did a transvaginal ultrasound and said everything…

Guess who's on a CHEMO BREAK!! me! me! ME!
I just got back from my appointment with my gynecologic-oncologist, and he is recommending that I take a break from chemo now!! MY CA-125 dropped from 47.2 3 weeks ago to 42.5 from my labs taken Thursday. Although that is not within the normal CA-125 range of <35 range, or anywhere close to my lowest CA-125 of 11 following…

Going to MD Anderson for Second Opinion Norma 2
Dear Norma, I am going to MD Anderson for a second opinion. I have an appt the end of March. go to surgery this week for biopsy of the peritoneum. DVT and Pulmonary Embolism (clots)
I have seen no postings on the danger of blood clots during chemo and after a uterine cancer diagnosis. I have had two bouts of leg clots and pulmonary embolisms. I would not have had the second bout and second hospital visit if my doctor and I had been aware that coumadin (warfarin) often does not prevent clots in those…

Re:jjmb12 when logged in
Hi Linda, thanks for the reply- I have written this as a separate discussion as I didn't want to hijack Songflower's very important thread. I know how to look up profiles, it just you can't actually see a list of posts by that person. For example hystersisters - you look up stats and you see this Total Posts * Total Posts:…

Clinical Trials

Confirmed that mom does have UPSC
My mother does have UPSC with a first recurrence. I'm glad at least to have found this place where people are going through the same thing. Please can you tell me who here is or has undergone second-line chemo after a recurrence? Linda, I know you are about to start.

1st of 2 oncologist opinions on what to do with clear PET & rising CA-125 after 1st recurrance
I could hardly wait to get back and post the fascinating appointment I just had with my chemo oncologist. My talk with my chemo-onc was as exciting and confusing as the surprise clear CT/PET scan results I got last week. But I left my appointment with new hope and am anxious to share that hope with the rest of you. (Just a…

First Chemo went really well
Hi All, My first Chemo with Taxol/CarboPlasin went well. Start to finish it was 6 1/2 hours, good thing I took lots of Video, snacks, blanket, and my Ladybug plush bug to stroke. My husband stayed the whole time, it's no wonder I love him so much. I drank 6 bottles of water, had to get up to pee a lot but I think it helped…

My Mom - Disappointing News
I just heard from my mom after her CT scan results and consult with the chemo dr. The dr. said she is not strong enough for chemo. It's a month post-op and the oncologist said chemo was her best chance, so we're disappointed that we can't go after it right away. They are going to try an estrogen inhibitor for now. There is…

Freaking Out...
Hi...I'm not sure where to begin, so I guess I should go to the beginning. I've been post menopausal for a little over two years. Several months ago I had an episode of spotting that lasted a couple of days. I really paid little attention to it as it was very, very light. I only noticed it when I wiped after using the…

Review : Management of Women with UPSC May 2009
Hi There, I came across this review while doing research for my mom. I thought it was pretty interesting given that it discusses the research that has been done up to this point for UPSC and what they recommend as the first line of defense and for recurrence. It gets a little technical but thought it could be a good…

Does it matter who the chemo doctor is?
Hi There, I hope all is well! I'm here with my mom at the UCSF Medical Center. She had her "take it all out-ectomy" on Monday and is doing really well! We are sitting here discussing with the doctor where we would like her to receive her chemo. Here is the problem- we are from a small town about 2 hours from San Francisco…

PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome) Roll Call
I've been noticing lately that we've had several ladies with PCOS including myself. PCOS puts us at risk due our insulin leves. For those of you with PCOS, there is a website. I'll have to look it up. With my diagnosis, I tried to find information between uterine cancer and PCOS and there wasn't a lot out there. Maybe we…

Bouncing back
Hi everybody, I hope you are having a good day. I am 68 and go for my 9 month check up next week.I finished chemo in May and radiation in June. I still work but sometimes find that I just plain get too tired to finish the day. Is this the 'new normal?' It seems that when I hit the wall, I'm done. Does anyone else have that…

How long do I wait?
I have been inspired by everyone's stories. My mom is a breast and ovarian cancer survivor and I watched her go through so much when I was in high school. I wish she had had something like this for more support. Maybe because of her history I am over reactive. I am only 35 and have had irregular periods for just the past…

Too scared to talk...have to be strong...
I found out yesterday that the polyps I had removed during a D&C the day before were cancerous. I am to scared to actually talk to anyone about it....don't want to loose my cool. My mother passed away several years ago from breast cancer and now my son is scared that I may be sick like grandma...I'm trying to be…

In remission and upset. Need some guidance/thoughts.
I have been in remission from endometrial cancer for just 3 weeks now. I have been dealing with it for a few years, and I opted NOT to get a hysterectomy since I am only 32 years old, and wanted to be able to have children (however slim the chance may be at this point). You would think that with news of remission that I…

Remission
Hello, all. You are going to think that I am a selfish being, as I also think. I feel very confused about the emotions I am going through right now. I was diagnosed with papillary adenocarcinoma endometrial cancer in June of last year. I went through some aggressive hormone therapies because I wish to have children. I had…

Feeling a little silly...
Hello all! I haven't posted in awhile, but have been keeping up with you all via this board. Welcome to all the newbies...glad you've found us. I need to vent/rant a bit as I've been feeling a bit down for some reason. I feel like I should be ecstatic as I'm celebrating 2 years NED in a couple of weeks...but I'm not. I've…

Caregiver Stress
I need to vent a little. My husband has been so supportive during my surgery and recovery but is struggling with his own health, emotional & physical. I think today he was close to a melt down, he is getting professional help from his doctor but his need is coming just as my chemo starts, it's unbearable. I know this will…
