Clean and Healthy Produce Spray

I found this on Dr. Oz website. It says "Eating organic fruits and vegetables is the safest way to ensure that your food is pesticide-free. Although great for your body, going solely organic can be tough on your wallet. Try this spray solution for a cost-effective way to remove pesticides from your produce.

The vinegar in this spray has natural anti-bacterial properties, while the lemon juice is a natural astrigent. The solution works to both breakdown & clean off pesticides."

Ingredients

1 C. Water
1 C. Distilled White Vinegar
1 T.Baking Soda
1/2 of a Lemon

(Mix in a bowl as it will fizz right out of the spray bottle)

Combine all ingredients in a large container. Transfer to a spray bottle with a pump. Spray mixture on produce & let sit for 5 minutes. Scrub & rinse.

I leave a list of highly suspected vegetables that have pesticides on them and ones that are not on the inside of kitchen door. I keep my spray in the refrig although it doesn't say you have to.

Hope this is helpful to you all.

Becky

    Thanks!
Becky, Thanks for posting the "recipe". I keep the list of worst fruits and veggies on my frig, but sometimes I can't find organic (or can't afford it), so this spray would be perfect!!

    Healthy eating!!

Cleaning non organic fruit and veggies
I find it difficult to obtain organic fruit and veggies, as I live in quite a small town here in England, so I was recommended a liquid called "Veggie-Wash" which sounds similar. We have a health food/vitamin store in town which stocks it. I put a capful in a couple of litres of cold water, swish the fruit/veggies around for a couple of minutes, rinse and voila! Hopefully it is doing the trick.
