Linda -- Congrats - Please make a new thread for "embolization"
Thank God Linda, you give all of us hope. You are surely not only thinking of yourself but all of us here!!!I am kinda sad my friend who was diagnosed last July with Lung cancer passed away this weekend. It would be so much easier if you could post a new subject on embolization. Only if it is not a problem. God bless June

The challenge of "living joyfully in the NOW" when you feel like crap
I have been so blessed with an excellent quality of life throughout my cancer journey, and find myself, following this radioembolization on Wednedsay, feeling lousy. I am uncomfortable (gassy) and jazzed up on steroids and sleepless. Food tastes way off, and though I am diligently force-feeding myself healthy foods, I have…

What a difference a year makes
July 1 marks the first anniversary of my hysterectomy; May 11 my partial mastectomy. Prior to that, I didn't even know the word stage or grade or how many different types of both endometrial and breast cancers there were. What an education I've had. Just received news this evening that a friend's endometrial biopsy…

Liver cyberknife and topotecan
o dear ladies. I am on topotecan (I think it sounds like a tropical drink with a green twist). I take it every week for one year. I switched from my gyn onc to medical oncologist. she is alone in practice giving chem and doing surgery. I decided I needed more chemo care that someone can give me. Hopefuly They will do scan…

a little hopeful news in the midst of the abysss
sisters: as many of you know, i had one round of carbo/gemzar, then got the blockage, then surgery, now recovering. i had a ca 125 a few days ago, and it is down from 397 to 143, which is good considering i just had the one round, and speaks to the efficacy of this combination. now i only hope i can tolerate it, but i…

Off topic news about my mother's recent cancer diagnosis
I am not sure that this is an appropriate place to post this message, but I have come to love the women on this board and to respect their opinions about cancer diagnoses and treatment more than those of anyone else. The background of my current concern is as follows: I was adopted a few days after my birth. About a decade…

endometrial cancer
I was just diagnosed with endometrial cancer and am anxious about what I should expect. I know I need a total hysterectomy, but how do they determine how far your cancer has progressed? Does a grade 1 mean most likely you will be stage 1? The doctor is not doing surgery for another five weeks, should I be concerned with…

Strength for those going through cancer
This is my first post on CSN. I wish I had found this site a year ago because it probably would have helped me cope a little better to talk with other cancer patients. I am currently in remission for almost one year. My cancer was found when a D & C was performed. I had a hysterectomy and it was found that the cancer had…

Surgery delayed, having a hard time
Just got a call that my surgery is being delayed 10 days because the DaVinci unit will not be available until then. This after my gyn/onc specifically said he did not know for certain that he would even do the surgery robotically. I had just gotten myself to the point where I was fairly calm -- "It will be what it will be"…

Linda what is the latest on you?
Linda, How did the mapping go? Are you going to be able to have the procedure to use the seeds? How are you feeling? With caring, Cindy

Round 5 of Chemo completed
I had my two long days of chemo on Wednesday and Thursay. 8- 4 one day for the Taxol infusion, and 9- 4:15 the second day for the Cisplatin infusion. Luckily both infusions went well with no reactions. They used the same pre-meds as last time. Lots of Steroids. I went Tuesday for my lab draw, as they only run the CA 125 on…

Restarted Chemo after vaginal cuff revision
Hello all, Just started on round 2 of chemo yesterday, 2 weeks and 2 days after vaginal cuff revision. The Doc checked his stitches up in there and said they are holding, and the tissue is good and pink. No problems with nausea from the chemo, but I'm still worried about that CA-125 score. Its 202. They are still saying at…

Hoping for some treatment updates from Maggie, Connie, Diane, others.....
Seems like some of our favorite ladies here have been quiet about what's going on with them. I'm not trying to pry, but please know that I pop in here primarily to see how you ladies are getting on. Know that I am thinking of you and rooting for you and really am interested in what your oncologists are telling you and…

It's been a bit since I've checked in. My heart breaks for all of the new participants, as well as for the ladies I recognize who are continuing the battle! I am uplifted at the high fighting spirits, and feel the warmth of a true hug from those with words of support. You are all amazing women! I just hit my 2 year post…

stick to your guns--advocate for yourself
When my sister was finally diagnosed with UPSC IVB (after almost a year of CT's, PET's, MRI's and general incompetency) I realized that although she was asymptomatic, I had a few of the symptoms. I decided to check in with my gyn and ask for a more thorough exam to address my concerns. First I had to speak to her nurse…

Trends-We could do our own study based on those of us on these boards
I was thinking perhaps we could start a study of our own based on all of us here. We could track some history. I would be willing to do a spreadsheet and report back the trends. Date diagnosed Stage and grade Surgery and treatment protocol Status: NED, recurrence or in treatment Food habits prior to diagnosis Food habits…

upsc stage III or IV--how many CT scans have you had
My sister, who is stage IVB, just finished her third carbo/taxol treatment. Originally her oncologist said she would follow up with a CT scan to see if the chemo was working. (I understand this is pretty much standard to do a scan and CA125 test midsteam). Yesterday however, the doctor said she thinks it would be best to…

Metastasis to the liver and lining of the lung
Dear Sisters: My PET scan came back with a 2.5 cm tumor in the liver and small fluid in an area in the lining of the lungs. I start with many Doctors appts again and they want me to do some type of radiological procedure that sounds like Linda's. I haven't talked to those specialists yet. After that I will wait two weeks…

diagnosed and treatment course set at MDA, being treated locally--how to liaise?
My sister, who was diagnosed with UPSC stage IVB in February 2011, went to MDA for her diagnosis and recommendation for the course of treatment. However, she lives in Florida and had to come back here for her treatment. Her local medical oncologist had a different opinion for the type of chemo to be delivered (we think it…

Help from a nurse, please
I have previously posted with my history under "I am feeling lost". I have come across some questions that maybe could be answered by some of the nurses on here. Can a D&C be performed after an endometrial ablation? What can a hysterosonogram show that a transvaginal ultrasound doesn't?

CT/PET scan results & the beginnings of a new plan: radioembolism
Well, I had one of those long deep heart-to-heart meetings with my chemo oncologist yesterday to review Monday's CT/PET scan results and try and come up with a new strategy. The GOOD news of the scan is that the cancer hasn't invaded any new organs. The bad news is that my liver mets have really taken off in the last 2…

6 weeks post Davinci Hysterectomy, needed vaginal cuff revision
Hello all, I wondered if this had happened to anyone else. 6 weeks post hysterectomy, woke up one morning with fluid leaking, went back to the emergency room and was found to have a centimeter sized hole in vaginal cuff. The next day I was taken back to the O. R. to have it sewn back up. It seems this is a sometimes…

High Enzyme Levels and Chemo
My alkaline phosphatase level is 228, and I am getting chemo, Taxol and Carboplatin. Also my ALT is 50 and AST is 40. All these enzymes were fine last week, before I had a shoot of Neulasta. My oncologist requested an ultrasound to make sure there are not gallbladder stones or anything else. Can Neulasta be causing the…

Pneumonia/ Abdominal Inflammation
My Mom is still in the hospital. I had posted in another thread that I have been reporting to Oncology nurse last week about her fever / cough. We ended up in the ER Saturday night for pneumonia. She hasn't been eating well at all, very nauseated for some reason which is very unusual - her last chemo was over 2 weeks ago.…

Radiation and Red Wine
I read a blurb in Newsweek (May 23 & 30, 2011) that I thought was encouraging. I hope it's all right if I quote it: "A compound in red wine helps prevent death from radiation, according to a new study from researchers at the University of Pittsburg. Resveratrol, already celebrated as an antioxidant, was shown to prevent…
