Good news
I may be taking my last carbo treatment for my first recurrance that did not respond to Doxil. I am allergic to it so I have to have it in the hospital and get desensitized. Takes about 24 hours but works well. My CA 125 is 11! The Dr would like to give me a couple extra treatments as it works so well but on the other…

My brother passed away yesterday from Cancer
Hello everyone....Below is what I posted on facebook about my brother. My brother passed after a hard 9 month battle with Acute Panamyelosis with Mylofribrosis. His body finally gave out. I informed everyone about 9 months ago that my brother was diagnosed with a very rare blood cancer. He underwent a bone marrow…

She is sooooo uncomfortable, w/ nausea, and now pain, and seems very weak (maybe the pain meds?). SHe is so bad, I am afraid she is going to die before she even begins…

CA 125 Question
Hi ladies Tomorrow after work I go for a ca125 test for my 3 month ck up on Friday. This is the first time I have been sick before a test. I have a slight head cold but I also have had some sort of stomach bug the past couple days. No big surprise since I work in a high school health office and both of these were going…

Bucket List
I just read an article about this 47-year-old woman in England with terminal bowel cancer and 6 months' prognosis, who posted her “bucket list” on Facebook. With the help and donations from friends and strangers she is going through her list, which included things like: Go to music festival, Learn to salsa, Limo ride with…

What could this be?
Hello, had my right ovary taken out last April, of course, menopause kicked in with a vengeance so I started HRT first of August. Everything has been fine. I did start an anti-anxiety med about 1 month ago. About 2-3 weeks ago I started to have sharp pain in the lower pelvis (about where my ovaries are) - they only last a…

Pain
Has anybody experienced a lot of pain due to the extent of their disease while still being treated? My mother has a lot of uppe ab pain/pressure - and I am hoping that if/when chemo shrinks things, the pain will subside, and her appetite will increase.

Has anybody had an experience like this?
My mom was dx w/ stage 4 on Dec. 2. She completed her first round of taxol/carboplatin 10 days ago - and has been in the hospital ever since. Her nausea and pain and pressure(upper abdomen ) are awful. She really isn't eating and has been on and off of IV fluids. Also, had NG tube for a few days. She gags a lot, and vomits…

To IP Port or Not IP Port - any feedback?
My mother is currently facing the decision of whether or not to have an IP port installed when her debulking surgery takes place in two weeks. We are grappling with this decision because her first 4 chemo treatments (via IV with Carbo/Taxil - not sure if I'm spelling that correctly) went great. Her numbers came way down…

Confused - CA125 increased after debulking
My Mom was diagnosed with cancer in November 2012. Her CA 125 was 5,338 November 24, 2012 after a tumor was discovered in her abdomen from a CT scan. She had ascites, too, and had 3.5 liters drained (red color). She had surgery the last week of November and had 95% of the cancer removed and another 4 liters of ascites…

Is IP Port an option only with first line chemo?
I did not have IP during first line treatment last year. I was just curious as to whether or not it is an option now that I have a recurrence. thanks, Carla

Re-occurance question
Has anyone had a re-occurance in their diaphram? Going for a biopsy next week. Wondering what to expect. More chemo? Taxol again, or a different kind? Radiation or surgery? The first 6 rounds of taxol seemed to work really good and my ca 125 was down to 8, but it didnt last long. Already after 3 rounds of the low dose…

Noninvasive Micropapillary Serous Carcinoma
Hi, I was just diagnosed with this cancer in June. I'm only 27, and I was wondering if anyone else had it. I've been told it's extremely rare. I have no family history, and making this even rarer, I only had it in my left ovary with spread to my peritoneum. I did not do chemo and am in complete remission (for the moment)…

Felicia.. How are you?

Vitamix? Is it worth the price?
I am seriously considering purchasing a vitamix. I want to hear from those who have used them. Both positive and negative comments. Thanks, Carla

foods or vitimins
Does anybody know of a list of foods and vitamins a person with cancer should eat? Before and after surgery and along with chemo. I was thinking along the lines of cancer fighting and for strength etc. Thanks, Deb

Mom checkup in January - hoping for sustained second remission
Hello all, I'm new here! My mom was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer in October 2009 at 69 yrs, had successful surgery and chemo and remission for 2.5 years with CA125 below 10. Recurrence in May 2012 with only one small tumor, went through carbo/taxol series and it vanished and CA125 went below 10 again- Dr.…

Traveling alone?
Hi Ladies, My son lives about 9 hrs. away from me. His fiance is about 6 hrs. from me. She seems to not understand that I am not comfortable in traveling that long distance alone. I am currently on Doxil for recurrence. Since my husband died 2 1/2 yrs. ago I am not comfortable traveling alone. I go to see my daughter in…

REmission
Last week I saw my gyne/oncologist. She felt something in my left lower pelvis and said lets do a CT. She thought it could be stool, but wasn't going to wait to find out. So CT done last Friday and I got my results Monday. I am officially in remission!!!. Ca125 last was a 7. and now only one more chemo to go. So thank you…

Another IT-related rant by an angry cancer woman
As I posted my previous comment, I also noticed that - it got cut off mid-paragraph, even though the full text is visible in "Edit" mode - it did not update "last user posted" on the board The part that got cut off reads: "Since there is no way to contact tech support, if anyone is reading this PLEASE roll back to the…

Merry Christmas to All!
Well, I made it to Christmas! There were times this year that I didn't think I would! I am so grateful for all the women who have gone before, who taught the doctors better ways to treat this dreadful cancer. I'm grateful I live within a few miles of a great cancer center...2 in fact...I had a choice between 2 of the best…

Research if you are interested
Two things have been brought to my attention that I would like to pass along to everyone. I've not researched it very much but both sound encouraging. 1. Soricimed company is currently doing human trials on the spit of a shrew. Has shown in animals to kill ovarian ancer cells. 2. cbapharma company is awaiting FDA approval…

nausea
My mother is now 9 days past her first taxol/carboplatin tx, and she is still in the hospital. She was on NG tube and not moving her bowels, but that has cleared, she moves her bowels now, and the NG tube is out. She is still soooooooo nausous. She was like this before the chemo too. She is keeping down clear liquids…

How long until chemo shrinks tumor/ascites
It has been 7 days since my mother had her first tx of taxol/carboplatin - and no changes that I can see. Is it too early to expect anything? They drained 2 liters of fluid a few days ago, and it is back. She feels so uncomfortable - like her upper abdomen is being stretched. I guess I need to be more patient.

carcinosarcoma
Apparently, this is what my mother has. I just found this out yesterday. The cancer has 2 elements, the sarcoma part being very aggressive and resistive to tx. It is rare to see a mixed tumor like this - I think less than 1%, and it makes the prognosis very poor. She said it may take up to 6 weeks to see if chemo is going…
