I hope you have a good CA 125, Kikz (Karen)!
I read somewhere on one of the posts that tomorrow you have your first CA 125 blood draw after starting your new meds. I tell you, these blood tests don't seem to get any easier with time. Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers your way that your number is good! Kelly

Life during chemo?
Having my first chemotherapy sessions on Monday and Tuesday. I know everyone is different but how mobile were you all when you were having your treatments. Were you able to work, drive, get out socially? I have this vision of laying around the house all day exhausted but I hope I have the wrong idea!

Chemo starts tomorrow, just one more question I promise!
Did you all eat before your chemo treatments? I sort of feel it will be my last meal for a while but I would hate to make a mess at the chemo center if I react badly to the drugs!

Intraperitoneal or IP treatment
I just had a secondary debulking surgery at Sloan Kettering last week and everything went really well. Now I am to start chemo again with two new drugs. I read that the technique employs two generic drugs already in wide use for ovarian cancer, paclitaxel and cisplatin, and involves high doses that can have severe side…

Anyone have Low grade, but not borderline OC
I had 3 C but it is either Low grade or Grade 2. I hear Low grade is much more resistent to chemo. It is the rarest of the OV, 10% of OC is low grade. The heavy duty chemo really frightens me.

antioxidents supplements vs no supplements
My Oncologist said to stop taking all of my anti oxidents during chemo. Books I have read say just the opposite. What are your opinions. It makes sense to me to stay healthy during chemo and to lessen the side effects, but I hate to go afainst my doctor. I start on the usual cisplatin/toxol (sp) on Monday.

Kayandok, a member here
Greetings. I'm the husband of Kathleen, known as kayandok here. In case you haven't heard, Kathleen passed away on Jan. 10. She fought an excellent fight and was loved and admired by many people. She underwent 5 major surgeries and countless rounds of chemo. She really hated the hospital toward the end (not the people…

Need someone to tell me to stop
Ok, I am having a really bad morning. I think I have done a pretty good job at staying possitive considering I have Stage 3c OVC, but this morning I wandered away from our wonderful support group to the internet and was looking at survival rates. I got myself in a funk now and can't stop crying. I do think possitive but I…

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
I can't be the only one whose stomach looks like...a Puffy Front Butt with the long vertical hysterectomy scar and after chemo-related weight gain. This week I had consultations with two plastic surgeons. They are claiming to be able to remove all fat and extra skin, to tighten abdominal muscles, and to replace vertical…

Just wondering...
There are days when I feel so fatigued. When I got up on Friday and Saturday, my body felt like it weighed 500 pounds. On Thursday I went to the hike with my cancer support group, then had my hair cut and colored and went to do some shopping. I had looked forward to the day. I went into Macy's for less than an hour and…

OVCA Vaccine Trial (FANG™) in Dallas
http://mccrc.clinisite.com/index.php?q=node/693 My wife is looking into this trial after her Taxol maintenance regimen concludes this Summer. I don't know if MD Anderson kept a large enough sample of her tumors. Do any of you know if it is common practice to "ice" the tumor specimens after surgery?

Could I use your other shoulder?
My onc just called with my latest CA 125 and it went up again from 40 to 72. She is offering me another drug, I can't remember the name right now. I thought she said samara but when I googled I found Synarel. That might be it. She said if the numbers get too uncomfortable for me or if I start to feel anything, I can choose…

Bye-bye portie
My IP port was taken out today. Good riddance to the silly little thing that never worked and only caused pain and frustration. The surgery took about 5 minutes including cutting, pulling the port out, sutures and chit-chat with the ONC. Then I drove myself home. Husband is too busy to come with me; working extra hard…
