Seeking Cancer Patients with Anxiety For Research Study (NY City)
Like, which of us do not have anxiety? LOL I've been a participant in this study since the summer, and have nothing but the highest praise for it. It is so well run, so carefully thought out, and so effective! I can honestly say that my experiences in this study have changed my life. I am also lucky enough to still be in…

My mom in still in the hospital after first chemo on Friday. Not tolerating it well, w/ nausea and vomitting. Seemed to be better yesterday, taking sips of liquid. Overnight, I don't know why, but they put a nasogastric tube in to suction out all secretions in her stomach. I cannot get anymore details than that. My mother…

Power Port Removal
I haven't been on the board for some time now and thought I would check in. I just got the results yesterday from my 4th CT scan of this past year and I'm told everything looks good. As far as I know, there is no sign of cancer in my body right now and that is a blessing. And so, I am going in tomorrow morning to have my…

Advanced Ovarian Cancer
Can someone define what advanced stage ovarian cancer is? Is that when it has spread a far distance in the body from the original site, such as the brain or lungs? I always thought stage 4 was advanced and stage 1 was low grade and stage 2 and 3 were somewhere in between.

Worst day - please help
I'm sorry for posting so much, and being so needy. I don't know where to turn. My mom started her chemo yesterday - and is sooo very sick right now. She is in the hospital w/ IV fluids and zofran - unable to even swallow her saliva. Just prior to the chemo, she was nauseous, but was able to eat and drink small amounts (and…

Well, it's been a year and 5 months since Mom got her wings and I'm doing ok. Not the same but ok. There isn't a day that goes by when I don't think about her, but it isn't quite as painful. I come here about twice a month and read the posts. I'm sorry to see the new people but smile when I see all those who were here for…

Terrified
Tomorrow my mother meets w/ the medical oncologist for the first time to discuss last week in the ER, said she had a 20 cm tumor, looks like it's coming off of her ovary, looks cancerous, most likely advanced. She has a lot of ascites. The surgeon has already said surgery is not an option right now due to the extent of the…

New here - 19 year survivor and recently dx mother
Hi. I am a 19 year survivor of ovarian cancer - dx in 1993 (I was 25 years old, and i am 45 now) I had and immature terratoma germ cell tumor, stage 1, grade 3, found in an dermoiod cyst. I was pregant at that time, and went through 3 rounds of chemo - cisplatin, bleomycin and etoposide. I tolerated it well, and have been…

Burst bubble
I had my yearly checkup with my surgeon on Thursday. I love him and although he is frank, he is also encouraging. He mentioned that my CA 125 results were trending downward since I began the Tamoxifen in July. I said except for the current one which rose from 24 to 31. He shrugged and said, same thing. I said, you say! I…

The web site keeps kicking me out. Anyone else having that problem?
I was wondering about hot flashes too, I have been getting them since my surgery in Feb, and I think the chemo makes them worse. Do they eventually go away? My dr doesnt want me to take any hormones for them, but it would be nice at least to know they dont last forever.

Waiting for tx to begin
My mom was dx at ER w/ advanced OC last week. She is home now, waiting for final biopsy results to begin tx. She has 20 cm tumor and ascites, and is so uncomfortable. She can't eat much, and it is hard for her to be comfortable. Is this normal for her to have to wait so long to begin tx? Should I be pushing to get in her…

How important is Optimal Debulking?
I have a quick question. Someone at my support group asked me this and I did not know how to answer. Here is the question. "If your GYN Oncologist tells you that your ovarian cancer (tumor) was encapsulated and he was able to do Optimal Debulking, how important is that in your survival chances?" Does Optimal debulking…

The Naturopathic Approach
Ladies, I've periodically posted information regarding integrative treatments and maintaining NED with diet, supplements, and lifestyle. My story wasn't very earth shattering, it seemed, because I didn't start posting until I was NED. But my prognosis was very poor, my surgery was suboptimal, and my doctor gave me less…

CA 125 results...not happy.
Had a terrific Thanksgiving and then received my latest results in the mail Friday. I choose not to call in for them because it makes me nervous. For the first time since I started the Tamoxifen in July my count went up. It has gone down steadily each month. Last month it was 24. The current count is 31. Of course I am…
