foods or vitimins
Does anybody know of a list of foods and vitamins a person with cancer should eat? Before and after surgery and along with chemo. I was thinking along the lines of cancer fighting and for strength etc. Thanks, Deb

Traveling alone?
Hi Ladies, My son lives about 9 hrs. away from me. His fiance is about 6 hrs. from me. She seems to not understand that I am not comfortable in traveling that long distance alone. I am currently on Doxil for recurrence. Since my husband died 2 1/2 yrs. ago I am not comfortable traveling alone. I go to see my daughter in…

REmission
Last week I saw my gyne/oncologist. She felt something in my left lower pelvis and said lets do a CT. She thought it could be stool, but wasn't going to wait to find out. So CT done last Friday and I got my results Monday. I am officially in remission!!!. Ca125 last was a 7. and now only one more chemo to go. So thank you…

Another IT-related rant by an angry cancer woman
As I posted my previous comment, I also noticed that - it got cut off mid-paragraph, even though the full text is visible in "Edit" mode - it did not update "last user posted" on the board The part that got cut off reads: "Since there is no way to contact tech support, if anyone is reading this PLEASE roll back to the…

Merry Christmas to All!
Well, I made it to Christmas! There were times this year that I didn't think I would! I am so grateful for all the women who have gone before, who taught the doctors better ways to treat this dreadful cancer. I'm grateful I live within a few miles of a great cancer center...2 in fact...I had a choice between 2 of the best…

Research if you are interested
Two things have been brought to my attention that I would like to pass along to everyone. I've not researched it very much but both sound encouraging. 1. Soricimed company is currently doing human trials on the spit of a shrew. Has shown in animals to kill ovarian ancer cells. 2. cbapharma company is awaiting FDA approval…

nausea
My mother is now 9 days past her first taxol/carboplatin tx, and she is still in the hospital. She was on NG tube and not moving her bowels, but that has cleared, she moves her bowels now, and the NG tube is out. She is still soooooooo nausous. She was like this before the chemo too. She is keeping down clear liquids…

How long until chemo shrinks tumor/ascites
It has been 7 days since my mother had her first tx of taxol/carboplatin - and no changes that I can see. Is it too early to expect anything? They drained 2 liters of fluid a few days ago, and it is back. She feels so uncomfortable - like her upper abdomen is being stretched. I guess I need to be more patient.

carcinosarcoma
Apparently, this is what my mother has. I just found this out yesterday. The cancer has 2 elements, the sarcoma part being very aggressive and resistive to tx. It is rare to see a mixed tumor like this - I think less than 1%, and it makes the prognosis very poor. She said it may take up to 6 weeks to see if chemo is going…

Latest CA 125
Received results in mail yesterday. Rose again from 31 to 40. Onc says we will do the January test and a petscan to see what is going on. I wish I would've thought to wait until after Christmas to open the letter. Last month I got the bad news the day after Thanksgiving. I must admit it is harder to keep upbeat. I am tired…

First cancer and now this!
This is an angry rant about CSN maintenance performed today and the new format. OMG what a disappointment! In the first 5 minutes I noticed the following glitches (I am sure there are hundreds more) - Content of Inbox disappeared; - Contact CSN link does not work - Pictures and friend status disappeared next to posts in…

Sarcomatous
Has anybody heard of this component in ovarian cancer? Apparently, my mother has a mixed cancer, and this component is more aggressive and takes longer to respond to chemo, if it responds at all. She is getting slowly better, one week past chemo. Still in the hospital, no ng tube, moving her bowels and eating light foods.…

Does CA-125 fluctuate durring Chemo?
Hi All: I am presently in Chemo. I just started my thrid round today (each round being 3 weeks). After my first round my CA-125 was 5. I had the test at the usual spot, but this week there was no lab technician at my ususal spot and I had to get it done at a different lab. Both places send to Nordx Lab. This week, my CA125…

Advanced Ovarian Cancer
Can someone define what advanced stage ovarian cancer is? Is that when it has spread a far distance in the body from the original site, such as the brain or lungs? I always thought stage 4 was advanced and stage 1 was low grade and stage 2 and 3 were somewhere in between.

Question for Tethys (fat flush plan)
Hi Tethys, I read your recommendation of the fat flush plan on another thread. Have you used this? I found the website and it looks very interesting to me! I am on Doxil for my first recurrence. However, I need to do something. I lost a lot of weight when I first become ill last year. I've already re-gained 20 lbs. of it.…

NG tube
My mom in still in the hospital after first chemo on Friday. Not tolerating it well, w/ nausea and vomitting. Seemed to be better yesterday, taking sips of liquid. Overnight, I don't know why, but they put a nasogastric tube in to suction out all secretions in her stomach. I cannot get anymore details than that. My mother…

Power Port Removal
I haven't been on the board for some time now and thought I would check in. I just got the results yesterday from my 4th CT scan of this past year and I'm told everything looks good. As far as I know, there is no sign of cancer in my body right now and that is a blessing. And so, I am going in tomorrow morning to have my…
