    I haven't seen it on the site that your talking about but I think this summer "The Cancer Center of America" is suppose to be starting up on this vaccine. If I'm not mistaken..check out their site. Joanne

    Saw an Australian company was finishing a trial..PrimaBioMed.com web page has recent results of a study on ov vaccine. Did you google "ovarian vaccine"?

    I have been following the progress of PrimaBioMed's CVac Vaccine and I was in Melbourne last month so I called in on PrimaBioMed and spoke to Vanessa Waddell and I was advised tht the next trial will begin early in 2008. The last trial had only 21 patients but it exceeded their expectations and one person who was in late stage ovarian cancer has been in remission now for 18 months. The next trial in 2008 will involve a larger number and Iam hoping to be part of the next trial.Unfortunately it will be 2008 before the next CVac Trial where as there is a vaccine available now in Americia and offered by Cancer Treatment Centers of America and developed by AVAX Technologies, Inc.

    Thank you for this vital information. My husband had heard a little about this vaccine, but as often happens, no further information after that. You can be sure we will all be watching. It is comforting to know that there is research being done on this otherwise 'silent' cancer. So much attention is given to other types of cancer (and rightfully so), but it appears as though Ovarian is lost in the shuffle. But this raises my hope as I'm sure it does for many others. I'll be keeping an eye on the website as well as Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

    Dear Aussie59

    Could you tell me the name of the vaccine you were referring to? I am being treated at a a research hospital that does a lot new trials and would like to ask my oncologist about that vaccine as she is active in new research. I couldn't find anything about the vaccine on the web site you mentioned.

    AVAX Technologies wants to turn cancer cells into cancer fighters. The company is developing vaccines created by extracting a patient's own cancer cells and chemically treating them to induce an immune system response. The technology used to create the vaccines (called AC Vaccine) is licensed from Thomas Jefferson University. AVAX's lead vaccine candidate M-Vax is intended as a post-surgical treatment for late-stage melanoma, but the company is also developing vaccine candidates to fight ovarian cancer (O-Vax) and non-small cell lung cancer (L-Vax). The company also offers contract manufacturing services to other biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Irene

    Irene, is this vaccine actually available? I don't read any more than 'will hopefully be available this summer' in the March article. Many of us here are waiting for a breakthrough like this. Thank you.

    Paula2, I had an online chat with Patrick Brown from the Cancer Treatment Centers of Americia today the 22nd regarding the ovarian cancer vaccine unfortunately he believes that it is still not available. He did however advise me to Contact Susan Schultz at 800-204-8900 ext 7388. I have tried to contact this number but it is only toll free in the U.S. I live in Australia and have problems with time zones and cannot access toll free numbers in the U.S. Iam hoping that you can contact Susan Schultz and advise us at what stage they are at with this vaccine.     Thank you Irene. I'll post here if I find any more info. Very good of you to share. Is it winter, down under? My son was born in Dee Why beach area, 1973, north of Sydney. All the best to you.

    Paula2, I will certainly be watching this site. I find this site to be very positive, caring, and I like the ‘can do’ attitude and there are people here with excellent problem solving skills because they have experienced the same problems and know exactly where you are coming from. I would get very depressed before as I felt I was running out of chemo options but after reading this site I have come across many chemo combinations which my oncl never mentioned but he now acknowledges I can use in the future and you never know I may have a good response to. Life is too precious not to keep striving for.
    It is winter at present but I live in North Qld in the tropics. The best part of winter is that we have beautiful black cherries in our supermarkets from Nth America. We look forward to them every year. Irene.
