Long-Term disability denied - Q about paps
I am so angry I could spit! My long-term disability was denied due to the insurance company's contention that an abnormal pap indicates a pre-existing condition to ovarian cancer! My research says there is no conection, as does my Ob/Gyn and Oncologist. Do any of you have any knowledge that disputes this?

Meghan
For those of you who haven't followed Meghan's posts on Face Book, she is now in Hawaii with her dad. She seems to be doing okay, something I am profoundly grateful for. There are few things more heartbreaking than a motherless child.

Post Chemo "Stuff"
Hello, I am having a very difficult time right now and was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar feelings. I am 53 and was diagnosed with stage 2c August 2009, had a hysterectomy, and chemo treatments which ended January 7, 2010. So far so good, all of my ca125 tests show NED. I am sooo blessed with that. That…

My Mom has stage 3/4 cancer. She started chemo June 22, then July 12, then August 5th, surgery is scheduled for Sept 3rd. CA 125 counts are as follows 14,300, then 8,600 after first chemo, 6,800 after second and no results yet from 3rd treatment. My question is this. Mom has hardly been sick to her stomach at all but this…

Venting and raving....a combination of too much 'Net surfing and another OVCA obit in this morning's
From the British Journal of Medicine, 2003: The goal of second-line therapy in ovarian cancer is essentially palliative, and therefore factors such as patient convenience and comfort, toxicity profile and cost are primary concerns in drug selection in this setting (Gadducci et al, 2001). Accordingly, health-related quality…

Anyone travel for 2nd opinions before treatment decisions?
I got the results of Thursdays CA125 and CT/Pet scan yesterday. The GOOD news is that the cancer has not spread outside of the same 2 lymph nodes it's been in for the past 6 months. The BAD news is that the 2 nodes are BIGGER and lit up BRIGHTER (an SUV of 17 for the one under my arm!) and that the weekly taxol is…

Treatment is hard
I had a rough time with my last round of chemo. I felt sick since second infusion and after the third infusion I basically could not get out of bed. I called my doctor after four days in bed and when she saw what shape I was in she sent me to the ER across the street. After the usual barrage of tests I was admitted. I…

Hello, Short version, my mother was diagnosed a year ago. She had surgery, some complications and two kinds of chemo over the past year. Due to the toll the Chemo and other garbage has taken on her she is in a very sick spot. She was home and doing well 2 weeks ago until a blockage occurred causing her to have to be on a…

Rising CA 125
Hiya everyone. Just been for my 5 month post chemo check up. My previous CA 125 was 34 but it has risen to 71. I was soooo upset and disappointed. I was feeling so well. All other blood markers are good (liver, kidney etc) and I have no sign of any ascites. My docs don't want to see me again for another 2 months and have…

Another funny....
This was posted on Inspire.com by a lady in Australia. She gave this letter to her doctor just prior to her surgery. You have to admire her sense of humor. Dear Professor Michael & Team, Having perused your very impressive C.V’s I reckon you are more than up to the job, however I thought it prudent to put forward a few…

The death of my mother
Todays date: August 21, 2010 My mother was born April 19th 1954 in Damascus, Syria. She met my father in Syria in 1976. He was a Swedish military officer working in the Middle East for the UN. They had a classic "love at first sight" moment. My father went back to Sweden but they kept in touch. My mother joined a group of…

Mostly Read Now
God's morning to all! I come here each day and read the boards or most days, but don't post to much anymore. You all continue to be an inspiration to me and each other, to all the newbies I say Live Your Life to the Fullest, try not to focus on every pain or bump in numbers (believe I know that is easier said then done). Has anyone taken Taxol?
Hi, I was diagnosed with stage iv ovarian cancer more than 2 years ago. My number when I started treatment was over 3,000. After a hysterectomy and chemo my ca 125 went down drastically. The Dr. has changed my chemo several times as after taking one such as Doxil, Gemsar, Carbo, etc. I get terrible side effects. My ct…

An incompetant doctor
Not sure if I have shared this with you all, but I went to see my GP (primary care doctor) with 4 minor issues. The people in my health practice know me very well and also knew and respected my late mother. Whenever I go in they always ask how I am and always fit me in for short notice appointments. So I am very happy with…

From one of America's truly great women.....Maxine MY LIVING WILL Last night, my husband and I were sitting in the living room and I said to him, 'I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.' He got up, unplugged the Computer, and…
