question on weird possible Gemzar side effect
Hello, I'm a regular on the colorectal board & I have stage IV colorectal cancer. I'm on the ovarian cancer board now, though, because I know that several of you may be on or have been on Gemzar (gemcitabine). I am in the unusual position of having "used up" all the chemos for colorectal cancer and I am now on a combo of…

Okay this is the weirdest question that I ever had to ask but has anyone else started seeing things after starting chemo. Mostly just bugs on me and things moving. It's really freaking me out. I think that I am actually going mental. I am in no test trials or anything like that. Just carbo/taxol. Any kind of info or…

If PET/CT scan is clear but CA125 is 160 would you go back on chemo
Mom did 7 infusions of carbo/taxol and got her ca125 down to 89. She had the PET/Ct scan that showed no cancer. But her CA went up to 160 and now gyn/onc wants to try Gemzar. Mom got such bad neuropathy in her feet that she can barely walk. Has to use a walker or wheelchair to get around. She's started to do physical…

Anti-cancer Diet
Dr. David Servan-Schrieber (2-time survivor of brain cancer) wrote a book called the Anti-cancer Diet--he makes a lot of sense. Here is a link to his YouTube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfddD6keYq0&feature=player_embedded After listening to him, I want to EXERCISE more to stay well.

Hi Loves, I've been away from the board for the last two weeks with extreme fatique from my last carbo/gemzar and gemzar cycle. I had had a month break prior to this and the good news is that I didn't lose any ground with my CA-125's (yeah), so maybe I'll be able to do that again. I'm going to try to catch up this morning…

Hot tub
Hey guys. I was reading an old post that it was not healthy to get in a hot tub unless it is obviously clean. I would like to know the health risks and, if any, benefits of a hot tub while I am going through chemo. Everything hurts so bad and I don't know what else to do. They gave me 500mg hydrocodone for pain but it does…

Opened the 1st of my 'posthumous' birthday cards to my grandkids today! :D
When I had my 1st recurrence, back in November of 2009, I read the survival statistics of my rare aggressive uterine cancer, and got my affairs in order. I felt I needed to have all the loose ends tied up so I could concentrate on LIVING for the time I had left. A part of those 'preparations' was to write out birthday and…

Rise in CA125 but CT scan shows everything has reduced
I went to see my oncologist for my CA125 results from #4 and my CT scan. He began by saying that it is good news. The fluid around my lungs is very small now and had reduced considerably from the previous scan. I had a soft tissue cyst in my pelvic area that had reduced in size by half. All other major organs completely…

What are the chances
Hi, I have been a member here at CSN for a few years due to having Follicular NHL and have been NED since Aug. 2008. A few days ago my wife went to her ob-gyn and found out that her right side ovary was enlarged. The Dr. said that it has to be removed to find out if it is benign or not. The Dr. I saw back in '08 told me I…

Does anyone else follow Sarah's (Carcinista) blog?
God love her, she is hanging in there, but not doing so well. She is now on oxygen round the clock and feels like she is looking at the final act. Her spirit and sense of humor have not waivered. She is so courageous and her quick wit never fails to put a smile on my face. www.carcinista.com Carlene

All that worry about my ca125 going up, I thught it was nothing to worry about. Not so! Went to visit my son and grandchildren March 3rd. Mopar----did you get the CA125 retested yet?
Mopar, I saw your recent post regarding the unexpected jump in CA125. Is everything ok? Did you get it re-tested? Perhaps the jump was a false read? Please let us know how the re-test results. I am sending positive thoughts you way for good results. In peace and caring. Cindy
