MIRACLE CANCER DRUG
They was an article in the NY Post and on Fox News about a cancer blocking miracle drug that was developed at Stanford University. It was a very short article that only said it is a drug that blocks the CD47 protein in the blood. That protein is what keeps the body from destroying the cancerous cells. So far it has only…

Second Opinions
Getting a second opinion seems to be a popular subject around here and I wanted to share my recent experience. I never asked my doctor for a second opinion, but he himself referred me for one to Duke University. (His word was "consultation", not second opinion if that helps anyone ask for one). The Duke doctor sent my…

I am getting anxious about it... kind of not like me anymore so it's surprising me. But last time when I had chemo I needed it again a year later so I guess the mind gets you going even though you don't…

What a difference a year makes
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and I was thinking where I was just 12 months ago on Easter Sunday. I was home on a 4 hour pass from medical rehab to celebrate Easter with my family. I was in a wheelchair, had a walker close by and had to be helped to the dinner table. Tomorrow I will be with no wheelchair or walker - have gone…

It took a little over an hour. Found out new information, there are more than just one mass on my left I have about 3-4. My doctor was very warm and welcoming! I did not get scared or cry! Right now I am in quite a bit of pain though. They had to go through a muscle to get to a node so my neck is quite tender. He said the…

I had blood work done today and it confirmed what I already knew--I am in my nadir. (I hope this will be the last time). My white blood cell count is less than 1.0, my hemoglobin is 8.6 and my absolute neutrophils are 156 indicating severe neutropenia and high risk for infection. Now I am where I need to be. Home. Away…

FNHL in retina
Has anyone ever heard of an instance of follicular lymphoma behind the retina? I understand it is rare but does sometimes happens. Most retinal lymphomas are large b-cell type. In any case it is very serious as the inside of the eye is part of the central nervous system protected by the blood brain barrier. This means…

Retuxan

Should Retuxan be added to my ABVD treatment ?
I have NLPHD , and my DR did not recommend adding Retuxan to the treatment . It seems this kind of lymphoma is highly relapsing compare to other HD, I am afraid that it will relapse if I didn't take Retuxan. Per my Oncologist "steam cell Transplant is the second line of defense if it relapse", please advise.

Not so good scan report
Hi all, The Pet Scan showed a little progression of the cancer rather than a reduction after the 2 inpatient R-ICE treatments. I have a very aggressive lymphoma that is persistent and tenacious, and not responding to treatment the way we need it to for me to get better. I told my doc that after all it is made up of my…

Good scan report
My scan came back positive and the doc says I'm back in remission. For anyone reading this who didn't see my earlier post I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Follicular NHL back in 2004, did eight rounds of CHOP-R and was in remission for seven years. Found out the FNHL was back last October and did a different treatment using…
