dry leather hands: radiation side fx?
Hi all, I'm new to this board. My mom had a cancerous polyp removed from her colon, but it metastasized to her lung and she just had lung surgery to remove a lobe. She just finished 8 weeks of daily radiation combined with a steady dose of 5FU. She's lately been having dry, leathery skin on the soles of her feet and palms…

Alimta
Hi all. Just got a note from my oncoliogist and she wants to start me on Alimta next week. The biopsy I had did not produce sufficient tissue to get the specific mutation info of my cancer. (for the third time). It is likely I have adenocarcenoma, which will be confirmed tomorrow, and we'll start chemo without the specific…

Hi All! Just got a call from my doc's nurse...seems they want to re-visit a mammogram from last week and want me to come in and be squashed (sorry but that one word describes it for me) again. There might be 'something' lurking in my left breast (which if you recall is where I have always felt the 'pinching' that the docs…

Dad's tumor is shrinking!
My dad had his appt. today after his CT scan last week, the tumor shrunk in half. It was 10cm X 11cm, so, I think this is a pretty good result. They will do 3 more rounds of chemo then do another scan to see if it's still shrinking.

linear accelerator
Has anyone heard of the newest treatment using what they call sbrt radiation? It is only given 5 times in large doses. It does not damage as much tissue as the conventional 6 week 5 day a week does. It gets a bead on the tumor and zaps it. They say it is a 85% control rate, what ever that means.
